Alabama vs. WKU Postgame Thread

hey- it's been a while since i have posted but I felt the need to chime in. My goodness- you would think from reading these posts that we lost the game. I realize that losing Fowler is huge but we're still a deep team with plenty of talent. Someone said we may finish under .500? Really? That's the best one i saw. We are going to be right there at the end of the season- Next weekend's game is big and I fully expect to win it. We aren't as good as we looked against UM- fine. We also aren't as bad (OL wise) as we looked against WKU. Jones may or may not be the answer at center but we will see. Take a deep breathe guys- Bama's gonna be just fine...Roll Tide
I've been at the hospital for 14 days with my 85 yr old dad who fell off a ladder and is in critical condition, prayed for tideman9 today, and mourned over the family losing Mississippitider, yet watched a less than perfect "shutout" game today and think that life is still good! We'll make adjustments from this game and come out stronger than ever against Arky next week. Count on it!
Not sure where all this non-Alabama talk came from. Constructive criticism, even if not well-thought out, is not penalized. OTOH, if you come on this site with a post to the effect that we could lose five games, after winning 35-0, then you're going to be put on ice for a while - until you come to your senses, or sober up - because that's just stupid. There were disturbing aspects to today's game. Fowler's loss will hurt, if that turns out to be for the season. However, what worries me most at this point is our OT play, both sides. Let's have intelligent discussion of our game and not "sky is falling" posts. Take that elsewhere...
I remember last year, at this time, alot of Bama fans were worried about the offensive line. Everything turned out fine then. We'll get it together. Roll Tide!!!
When someone comes up with something that illogical, it's presumed they may be impaired and they're put on ice temporarily for their own benefit...
That's why I didn't go overboard with Yeldon last week. While he is a star in the making, you can't fully gauge a RB until a tough yardage game. In 2010 three NFL caliber backs in Ingram, Richardson and Lacy could barely muster 100 yards between them in a couple of games, and they had to earn every inch. It looked a little too easy last week for all backs and more of a struggle for all the backs tonight. O-Line.
Ingram and Richardson were great in getting that extra yard. Our young backs will be getting tested like that in the future and I hope they fair as well as those two did.
A couple of days ago we didn't think he would make it but he's made amazing progress. We have a long way to go but it's really interesting how a diversion like this game gave him something to look forward to. It was pretty good for me too!
I ain't worried and I saw some bright spots as well. A defense that clamped down after giving up some yards and a passing game that looks better then the experts predicted. Were there rough spots, yes but, I've come to expect that in these type of games. As much as Saban preaches, I'm sure it is still hard for these young men to get truly pumped up for these type of games and not look ahead to next week big game.
My prayers go out to Fowler for a speedy recovery. If it ends up that his season is over, he'll definitely be missed but, I think that we have enough RB talent to push through as long as the rest stay healthy.
If a rough around the edges 35-0 game is the biggest slip up this year then, we are all good.
Always amazed how much negativity comes from a 35-0 win. Better to win ugly then be an Aubarn fan!

I didn't read all the thread, but why all the negative responses? Do you remember last season or 2009. You are going to have games like this. We were missing some important players, he was switching out players all game.

Honestly, this ^^^ (OT play) and seeing how WKU exposed the middle of the field on our pass defense are the main concerns I have from the first two games this season.
The middle is the soft spot of Saban's defense. Go look at the Utah game in 2008 (if you can stomach it) and look at what Lame Kitten threw at us in 2009. There's no such thing a defense without a weakness. Saban's defense has it as well. The problem is most teams don't have the time to expose it.
Yeah, I know it's normally our soft spot. Just hated to see WKU be the team to expose it. Especially before the Arky game. Although, it's obvious the Hogs have issues of their own -- which look a LOT bigger than ours.

Are there are concerns? There are always concerns. Nature of the game.
Just like it is not possible for a team to be at their mental and physical peak, each and every game. Especially when you face the kind of schedule SEC teams face throughout the course of the season. It is not an excuse, but is it human nature. Does the CNS presser make sense now? He knows this stuff happens, and he has to do all he can to overcome it.
So, who would you rather be: Bama, getting their butts kicked in practice, all week, to clean up all the mistakes? Or the Piggies, who just laid a big fat giant egg? Which one has more problems, and is less likely to fix them in one week?
I'm putting my faith in CNS. He has the track record to back my beliefs.

We've got too many Safeties out in coverage for my tastes when in dime. But I'll have to defer to the DB specialist getting paid $5mil a year.
Our O-line still need to improve a lot. I'm happy for AJ's 4 touchdowns, but I'm very nervous about the 6 sacks. OTs, please, live up to your Hype.
Fowler's injury is a huge blow. Maybe I'm exaggerating, I think he is the I-formation... I don't think we have anyone capable of completely replacing him.
As stacked as we are, there are a few positions being rather thin:
QB- We know from day 1, we don't have quality depth there, but again, who does? OL needs to protect AJ
RB- After Fowler's injury, Lacy not being 100%, we have 3 healthy backs left without a whole lot of game experience against SEC defense
DT- With Jesse's injury, we just yanked Lake's redshirt
