Alabama vs. WKU Postgame Thread

Yep, all starters should have been out relaxing. So, hmmm... We are up late in the 4th, and that means keep your starters in the game? I'm the biggest Saban fan, but this screams Shula and Prothro. Fowler was very important. But I dont want to jump ahead. We have to find out what happened and what the deal with him first.

I really hurt for JF -- he was the complete team player and a better athlete than people really understood. He opened some holes against UM that were mammoth.

That being said...other than JF this was a perfect game for CNS. Easy win...but we did not look consistent. We made enough mistakes for there to be a good focus this week in practice. WKU loaded the box and made us throw mid to deep -- which we did effectively. I don't think the OL will be reading their press clippings this week!

Defensively we gave up too many passes to tight ends -- and others -- in the middle. We will get that fixed. You don't expect perfect in these games...WKU was much, much better than I or others thought. No wonder CNS was upset this week...

I hate to rant.. I really do. But, I feel I need to in this case. Some of you absolutley need to either handle your alcohol better or just stop drinking! Comparing this team to 2010? Saying it is gonna be a let down? A .500 season? Ok even though it is possible...why would you just chalk it up and say that is what's gonna happen? Sure, this game had some let downs. But, it was a 35-0 win! How about a big Roll Tide?! Saban has something to coach this week while preparing for Arkansas! Do you think he is incapable? Should we just quit on our team and give up and forfeit the rest of the season? Some of you act as though thats what we should do and quite honestly it P's me off! I'll say it again..as CNS said "Why do we play the games?!" I am not thrilled that Jalston Fowler suffered an injury at all and I hope the kid is ok and can make a speedy recovery. But, one player doesen't make the team! Yes, he was an integral part but the show goes on and i have more faith in our coaching staff making adjustments if need be moreso than any other staff in the country. Put the sauce down and relax and try to think before you post and make a fool of yourself. It doesen't just make you look bad, those type of attitudes and statements reflect on our fanbase. I for one am proud of my Tide! Lets get after it this week! Practice hard and prepare for Arkansas! One game at a time and do your best everyday!

I've been quick to criticizing leaving guys in there, but while Folwer is important, he is basically the third string RB. You put him in there to get him playing time...

It was valuable practice time imo. It was only the 2nd game and no better time to get the flat out as the present.

What's goofy to me is, people "comparing" this team to 2010 like that team was sorry and a bunch of bums.
And two games in, after winning both by a combined 76-14!

'Yah, season's over, we'll be lucky to stay competitive with the barners...'

Some folks drink too much - that's all I can think...

Getting JW and DM back on Defense will clean up a lot. Fixing the sack problem will be more complicated. "Replacing" Fowler is not an option if his injury was a serious as it appeared. But I have a lot of confidence in the staff's ability to plan around it.

I really hate the loss of Jalston if indeed a season ending injury..... Don`t know that anyone has any reps in the "I" to take his place.... The OL looked bad at times and we could use the extra blocker..... You know, every now and then, teams have a down day.... I`m glad that our down day came in a 35 to 0 win..... On defense, the middle was wide open all day for the short passing game.... In my opinion, I think it had more to do with scheme than actual players making plays... Against Arkansas you will see a different scheme, plus Milliner and Williams being out did not help much...... The most discerning thing for me was the missed tackles and just getting down right juked on a few plays... That is fixable... With the Fowler injury, someone is just going to have to step up.... One thing about this coaching staff is they have a knack for adjusting in some way.... Although it is part of our game plan, "The I", it is not the only formation that we use.... I hate it more for Jalston Fowler than our ability to adapt without him... Eddie Lacy has lost a step, but his first carry looked like the Lacy we all have come to love so I think we will be okay, and remember Yeldon did not look like the same as opposed to the Mich. game.... On the OL, just the cohesiveness of our starting LT to Center, there is bound to be some growing pains... I have faith that things will work themselves out... You are going to see a more aggressive play by the Crimson Tide against the hogs.... Saying all of that, I thought WK had a very decent team.... They were fast coming off our corners rushing AJ... I do not think you will see that kind of speed from the Hogs....

The percentage of an I-formation in our offense in the past 5 seasons (in which we have 2 national championships and 1 SEC championship) is at the very most, in single digits. I think we'll be fine.
