That’s mine as well.I haven't seen this one mentioned, but the 2013 BCS NCG against Notre Dame gets my vote. It was total domination from start to finish. The best half is either the 2018 semifinal against OU or the 2008 UGA game.
Mrs. Basket Case and I were there. Our seats were on the aisle between the ND and Alabama sections. Contrary to ND’s claimed class, we caught a lot of mouthiness on the way in just walking to our seats without any ostentationsness whatsoever.
Then we scored 3 TDs on our first three possessions. I don’t remember what the halftime score was, but the Irish were smoked and they knew it.
On his way back to his seat after halftime, one of the mouthy guys passed me. He was wearing a Kelly green shirt saying ”Catholics vs. Cousins,” with what would be classified as a demeaning cartoon if it were depicting anybody other than Deep South rural people.
I just looked up and said, without rancor of any sort, “Nice shirt. Does that include made-up cousins?” The obvious reference was to Manti Te’o, whose fictitious girlfriend was just then coming out. His reaction indicated that he really didn’t want to be wearing that shirt at that moment.
Aside from winning the NC in convincing fashion, my favorite part of that game was AJ McCarron and Barrett Jones getting into it on the last possession. What an absolutely driven team. Sweet memories.
