Alabama's Junior Day

1st rule of post count.. Dont talk about post count. Bad things can happen :)

A-Men to that.

You shouldn't even joke about your post count for that matter.

I made a comment about my 1,000th post in jest and I was ridiculed and chastised. I even put smiley faces with my comments, but I still caught it.

Don't even go there. Spare yourself the grief. :)

The second rule of post count is: Never, ever change your screen name...your post count will re-set to zero.

"Eight years of college down the drain"

Nawlins Tide :)

At least he learned about the Germans & Pearl Harbor :rolleye2:

Well, somebody re-set your membership date to 10/99. Didn't you get your post count re-set also?

Its no big deal really. I had over 5000 posts as Nawlins Tide. A rather prolific poster earlier in my career, I was actually a QB selection on first couple of those hilarious, annual "All-Tidefans" teams.

However, I stopped posting for a couple of years, moved back to Alabama and I thought a new screen name might be in order...besides, I could never remember those crazy passwords you guys assign. :)

Actually, I think TF does a good job of minimizing the value or status associated with high post counts. Among the many positive attributes of this site is it's uniquely egalitarian atmosphere where the opinion of newbies is treated with the same respect and appreciation as someone who may have been around for years.

With all that said, contributing over 6000 posts does represent appreciable investment of both time and (in my case) scarce mental resources. As such, it is nice to have some modest indicator of one's participation and tenure.

From the article that Sellers posted... this is Dre Kirkpatrick...

"I rode up to Tuscaloosa Saturday with Jerrell (Harris). We went just to chill and relax. I was at Alabama's earlier junior day and went on some unofficial visits there so I'm familiar with the campus and that stuff," Kirkpatrick said. "Kendall (Kelly) went up there with us and we met up with Julio Jones and B.J. (Scott). I don't really know them that well but they were cool guys and they are close with Jerrell. We had a lot of fun.

"Me and Coach Saban are close. He's been very hands on with me and I like that. He's the head coach but his specialty is defensive backs and the fact he takes the time to recruit me means a lot. I was the last one to talk to him Saturday and it went well. He told me the same thing that Coach Smart did but coach Saban went a little more in depth about the overall players he needs to run his defense. He thinks I can play early as a freshman."

he is ours...

Watching Saban continue to assemble this level of talent...a cornicopia of cover corners...is simply astounding. Also interesting to watch him go after fast, "tweener" HS defensive lineman that he can develop into big, NFL-sized linebackers for use at the college level. Ditto tall recievers, tall corners, big safties and huge defensive lineman. Every position is "up-sized" with Saban.

I love the fact that talent-heavy squads will will ensure fierce competition for starting positions and almost zero drop-off between starters and back-ups. I also like that Saban selects players with (or solid potential to quickly have) NFL size, speed and athleticism. It's as though he is planning to play Green Bay in the opener instead of Clemson.

Yazoo City defensive end Fletcher Cox has an eye-popping 4.47 40-time – overwhelming for a 6-foot-3, 232-pound defensive end.
:eek2: Wow..........just......wow!
"Alabama stands out over Auburn right now because I am looking at more than just football, and Alabama's academic structure and plan was very impressive. I liked what they had to say about their academic support for students and their academic facilities. Auburn is right there too, but Alabama stands out a little more."
Is it just me, or do these kids just sound more intelligent lately?
Greenville defensive end Jamontay Pilson had sat on one offer from in-state program Auburn for months, but after Saturday, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman had his second offer and a new favorite.
Didn't take long, did it?

Yup.

And on a side note. That Fletcher Cox kid sounds like a FREAK. That sounds like the textbook definition of the jack. An undersized passrusher that runs a 4.4??? I'm drooling over the possibilities...:biggrin2::PDT_alc: :Joker_PDT_45: :Smiliz_Kingz_PDT_16:patriot: :GUITAR_RIGHT: :GUITAR_LEFT:

I'm loving the talent we are drawing at CB. These guys can cover or zone(with their speed). Wow, this is going to be one badaxe defense in the very near future.
