My suspicion - and no, I don't have any unusual insights here (my brother the newsman has never met Brady, etc).....this happens a lot. It happens when the kids grow up (Empty Nest syndrome).

They were (probably) married to their careers, hung out with each other in the sense that it was someone to talk to, etc. But they were probably nothing but strangers who, the moment they realized they were spending an inordinate amount of time with each other, didn't like where they were.

And they didn't have to stay. Tom especially didn't have to stay. Tom can bag two women at a time right now whose age combined totals his, and it's all legal - and those two have someone to talk to when Tom dozes off afterwards.

With both rich, it's hard to cry poverty.

Note: I'm not surprised about this AT ALL. I always suspected this would happen anyway.

or when he retired and spent more time with her, he realized he just doesn't like her very much.
I have a brother in that situation. When he and his wife started dating they lived across the country from each other. They were married before he moved back home, except his home and hers were still 3 hours apart. Her business is where she has a house and his is where we grew up. When he is gone for work she gets angry because she is not a priority. When he goes back her house they argue all the time. It has been like that for 8 years.

Happens all the time. People with "busy" careers like theirs in which jobs keep them away from home a lot, tend to never evolve in their relationship because they aren't home enough. So when their career changes and they are now at home and having more time to be around each other. They realize not only do they don't know the person, they don't like them.

Well they do have kids, so they liked each other a little.

Not the first or last couple to grow apart.
No one told them that marriage works better if they actually like each other, beyond sex. It helps if they have interest in common too. My guess is beyond their careers they discovered they didn't really know each other, and that they are superficial.

(Spoken by someone who has been married 48 years to someone he not only loves, but likes too.)

We all saw this coming. You don't take a near 2 week hiatus in Training Camp unless it's something serious.

What it boils down to is this...Brady and Gissell lives two seperate lives. One is the grown up and the other is Tom Brady and Gissell pretty much got tired of being a single parent.

Problem is, this has affected the play of the Bucs. So he doesn’t have a family life, and he doesn’t have a good football team either. Although, watching Thursday night, it wasn’t Tom‘s fault they lost.

We don't know what has transpired between them...and it is really none of our business. Every marriage is challenging at one time or another...2 people trying to merge their understandings, persona, and hopes, dreams, etc. This is a very difficult task at best. Rather than jump to conclusions about persons we really don't know, I think our time would be better spent focusing on UA and college football.
