The mere fact that every week we constantly and consistently disagree among ourselves on this board about targeting calls in games where no one has “a dog in the fight” speaks volumes. We have some very knowledgeable posters on this board and even we can’t reach a consensus in most cases of whether or not a targeting/non targeting call was correct.
Agreed. Fix it or get rid of it
I think ejection only on the most flagrant deliberate targeting, or the 2nd offense in a game would be fine. Ejection for ticky tack fouls is garbage.

Both my parents went to Ole Miss. Dad and I were texting back and forth during the game. We agree on two things:

Ole Miss was lucky to win.
That was some seriously putrid football.

Language should be simple:
Initial contact to the head (or simultaneous) - out
Lower helmet and lead first contact with same - out.
On second thought - they will spend an hour during the game discussing what “simultaneous “ means. Never mind.

Targeting is the "strength of schedule" argument in real time.
