Anybody here ever seen a drop-kick in an NFL game?

The announcers said that the last time that happened in an NFL game was in 1941. I was watching the game and had just changed the channel for a few minutes and missed it! I have seen footage of Jim McMahon kicking drop kicks in pre-game warmups and he was pretty darn accurate. He never got a chance to do it in a game, though.

My uncle, Ralph Hamner, drop-kicked a 50 yd FG to lead Walker over Carbon Hill in 1947(?). It probably was about 30 yds but everytime George Smith Lindsey told the story, the FG got longer. :biggrin2: :biggrin2:

I remembered Atlanta had a kicker named Nick or Mick Luckhurst (sp?) several years ago and I thought I remembered him dropkicking in a game. Maybe it was just highlights of him practicing the dropkick I'm remembering.

A cousin of mine, James Tucker, was QB for Walker in the late '40's. I'll have to ask him if he was there for that.

I've never seen one at any level. Heard of it and knew how it was supposed to be done, but just thought it was an urban legend!

It was pretty common when I was a kid. Not in games, but kids doing it on the playgrounds.
