Anyone else a little let down with NSD?

:BigA: I am only let down that this question came up after all Saban and this class achieved! There is not one athelete in this recruitng class that I would want to trade for someone else! It is more about developing these atheletes after they get here than how many stars someone wnts to stick by their name! I am tickled to death by the way we are recruiting and the way they are developing!

This class is almost perfect. Perfect would have been stealing Coleman, and I bought into all the 90% stuff on that one. As it turns out, we did not sign a Left Tackle in this class, and franchise LTs are harrrrd to come by and allow you a lot more flexibility in the drop-back pass game. That is the one facet of our team that I want to be upgraded in the coming years is our ability to be effective in the pass game on more than just play-action. I think in order to stay on top, we'll need to have a more independant passing game, which is why I'd gotten excited about closing SC. And the fact that it would've left a gaping hole in the barn's class.

But aside from that, this class filled needs with some really great players. And besides, the loss of Coleman will only make Cyrus an easier close. For people who've reviewed his film, does he project as a 5*? His measurables sure look on point.
If SC is a LT, it won't be for a couple of years. Have you seen a photo of him? He looks more like a small forward...

I didn't even open up this thread when I saw it on the main recruiting board yesterday because, honestly, it annoyed me a bit. My simple answer is no... not dissapointed at all.

Funny how in just 3 years CNS has gotten some people so spoiled that even if we land a Top 5 class we just are not happy~!~

Gotta look at our needs were and how we were sort of handcuffed by needing so many DB's and two special team guys at the same time... Then again CNS recruited the top DB / punter/ kicker class in the nation so all is well at U of A~!~

I thought we had 2 five star OT's sitting around doing nothing anyways ~?~

Unless I missed something we are more than equipped at the OT position. And you are right Earle Coleman is not the LT build IMO~!~

I will refrain from reading the previous six pages of this useless thread, because if you're "let down", then you've lost all prespective. This signing class is amazing, and fills all of Alabama's needs, and then some. I'm excited about the future, and I'm stoked I get to see a number of them in spring practice.

I'll take the 5th rated class every year...especially with CNS being in charge.

Our two #1 classes were only freshmen and sophmores this past year. Look what he did with mainly Shula's recruits...

There were 5*s riding the pine. BTW, 5*s are supposed to contribute immediately...

Not only is our class one of the very elite in the nation as far as talent goes ...

Every one of our recruits knew full well they were signing up for a coach and a program with a high-discipline, team-first, physically and mentally demanding culture and reputation.

And they picked Alabama anyway. That matters ... a lot.

I wouldn't trade ours for any class in the nation. Not Florida's, not LSU's, not Texas' ... and absolutely not Auburn's.

You gotta be kidding right?????
We recruited to fill needs.
Remember several lightly recruited players who are graduating from Alabama this year. Think about folks like Cody, Arenas ect...
(These were not 5 Star 'Wonder Boys', and they did a pretty good job for us)

It's not who you get, but what you do with them once they are on board.

I think like many on here the only thing missing was the over-hyped and down right out of control spectacle kids put on today when signing on... We were done probably by mid-January and other than an iffy 1 or 2 we knew what we were getting.

I think too many people think the big boys only sign on National Signing day but in reality almost every big boy went before then with the occasional glory hound wanting the attention... I respect our guys even more for not needing some stupid media fiasco to want to win a National Championship and play for BAMA~!~

Great class to say the least, loaded DB's, Special teams is set for 4 years and some beef and incredible speed we have not seen in forever... Just wait and see~!~
