Well neither Rivals, Nor Scout, Nor ESPN even mention it so I'm not going by an alleged "he confirmed to me"...

Plus he was wearing a Bama cap in the Friday interview and said point blank we were still one of the three. I mean come on. lol

Maybe I'm naive but I can't see him wearing a Bama cap and saying we were still a possibility after supposedly eliminating us from his decision.

Time will tell but I'm still thinking we have a very legitimate shot.

I absolutely believe he is still considering Alabama. How could he not if he thinking about the future. Agreed, Dabo and especially SOS have some home cooking going on but this young man is also thinking about TV time and the NFL draft if he is as smart and good as everyone says. Hopefully, Mom will choose to sacrifice for three more years, then she can watch him from the box seats in the NFL for as long as she wants.

There is something to be said for TV time, championships and having a team around you like Jadeveon would have in Tuscaloosa. And there is something to be said for history when you consider this class could help yield one of college football's all time best teams. If he is not at least considering these things, he should be. :bs_comehereyou:

If I was the best player in the country I would play for Alabama even if the world expected us not to win a single game while I was in college. If that is JC's point of view, I won't criticize it.
This is spot on. As fans, its hard to look at things from someone elses point of view.

We'd play for bama no matter what. Other players from other areas, well..they may not be as big of fans...

and Jadeveon Clowney will be a solid NFL selection no matter his choice. I think its funny oto read our fan boards...you'd thing that every playter in the NFL came from bama...

Im a homer, but c'mon...NFL players come from other schools...and playing near home for the home team has a great appeal as well...

Hopwe JC comes to bama, but if not...I wish him much success...he seems like a solid young man from what Ive saw.

We've already signed one of if not the best classes this year - so Clowney would be the icing on the cake. But if he chooses to go elsewhere, wish the young man well and lets get ready for the fall and another national championship for Bama, Alabama, and the SEC!

This is probably closer to the truth than anything else. The kid will play a couple or three years, head to the NFL with his millions, buy mama a new house and car, and have her around all the time. For great players such as this kid projects to be, college is just a stopping off station on the way to the NFL and millions of dollars.

Curious, do you think college was just a "stopping off point" for Julio or Mark? Or is it three years they'll both remember for the rest of their lives?

Seems to me that three years in college, with your friends and coaches, goes way beyond a simple prerequisite for a professional career.

JJ really, really wanted to stay for his senior year. It just didn't make any economic sense...

I know we probably will never do that, but if we offer his GF a scholly so she can transfer to UA, would that push JC our way?

Craig James nearly played for Alabama. CPB noticed how much influence Craig's girfriend had, who eventually became his wife, so he pitched Bama to her. If she had chosen Alabama, Craig would have been here.

Tell you what..I grew up a Bama fan and wanted to play for Bama. However, the type of guy I am, if I'd grown up in say...Kentucky..then I'd definitely stay at home to be a UK legend rather than be a part of a long line of legends at Bama. I can totally see where the kid's coming from. Other than George Rogers, who do the Gamecocks hang their hats on?

Maybe championships are not as important to him as having his mom being close enough to see him play! It seems selfish that she does not want him to play where he has the best chance of wining a championship. He is putting his family ahead of every thing else and I do not fault him for that!
You seem to be assuming an awful lot here. For starters, that his family has the money to make the 8 or so hour trip to Tuscaloosa 7 times a year to see him play. I know what we all would do, but he'll make it to the NFL from anywhere (assuming he keeps his head on straight and receives minimally competent coaching) His mom is his mom, and he wants her to be able to see him play. What's wrong with that?

Besides, we keep acting like the choice is between us and Stillman. This, afterall, is the team that beat us up on both sides of the ball last year -- while also playing for more championships than we did.

If JC goes to Carolina, his mom can watch him, he can play with some of his best friends from home, he'll be on TV 6 to 8 times a year, and he'll be playing in the best conference.

Otherwise, there's absolutely no reason he should be considering anyone else but us. Somebody must be getting paid!!!!

JJ made the right decision. I think I read where his Mother works at a KFC or Church's Chicken. He has the opportunity to change his families lives with his first pro contract. Good Luck and God Bless JJ. It was fun watching you for 3 years.

Oh ye of little faith lol...

Thus far this year two prospects have decided they no longer had interest in Bama.

There names are Cyrus Kounandjio and Brent Calloway.

Both will be wearing Crimson in the fall.

As long as that guy with an "S" on his chest is our coach we have a chance to land the services of the young man.

If not, we've still signed two of the top seven defensive end prospects in the nation in Pagan and Dickson with a juco guy named Dial who's going to be a great one.

We desperately needed help there and we got it.

If we do indeed end up with Clowney it would not shock me to see him play linebacker as his primary position and defensive end in the nickle package.

Regardless of what the young man decides he seems to me to be a class act who respects his mom and I wish him all the best.

I will say this however. Because of Spurriers age, I think if he doesn't pick Bama he'll end up at Clemson.

sip

Sterling Sharpe and Dan Reeves probably the most famous ones not named Rogers.

Appreciate the last string of posts setting the very few posters not applying logic here straight. If being true to his family was an acceptable reason for Cyrus to shun auburn and sign with Bama, then it should be an acceptable reason for Clowney to want to stay close to home... there's just nothing wrong with that line of thinking. Appreciate the honest evaluations (from most posters).

i am not sure this kid would be good for bama. his actions make me think he has an over inflated self worth. not sure he could be a good team player and cns already has a class that will win 1-3 mnc over the next 4 years. i wish jc all the best but if he wants to win a mnc, it ain't gonna happen at usc. i believe he will announce for bama. its a lock. his ego will not allow him to stay home. can you imagine all the crap he will hear from usc fans as "why the h_ll you put us through this if usc was always your choice" no, this kid is a wild stallion and there is only one coach who could tame him and make him a champ. thats cns.

And at 8-5 every year he might still get to play in the SECCG. :)
