BAMA getting been blown out in last year's championship game, I agree with you.

Re: As of today:

Never say never, but it's not likely this year. We need to finish the job and get in clean. There is a log jam at the top; several good teams are going to get left out. If we don't even win our division, we have nothing to hang our hat on in comparison.

This thread reminds me of the 2017 thread asking the same question with the same responses.

Cue Selma with the all of those threads for the assist. Lol

If you are talking 2017...That was nothing but an anomaly. 2011 also.

Re: As of today:

I can virtually guarantee you that there won’t be two 1 loss SEC teams in the playoffs. Since there are no longer any undefeated teams left in the East, our best shot of making it in with a loss would be losing to an undefeated LSU in heartbreaking fashion and have them win the SECCG.

It also depends on who else is hovering in that 4-6 spot. Clemson won’t have any competition getting in, Oklahoma probably won’t either. One of Ohio St, Wisconsin, and Penn St will be in whether they have a loss or not. At that point If it’s a bunch of 1 loss teams vying for the last spot, then we will likely be one of, if not, the top choice. If there is a surprise undefeated team, then we won’t be.

As of now though there are too many variables to say and I promise there’s going to be a lot of chaos still ahead of us.

The thing is there is a lot of football to be played.

-Wisconsin, PSU, Minnesota and Ohio State all have their big stretch at the end of the season and there is a good chance that they all can destroy each other’s seasons. Plus a rematch game could make a 2 loss B1G champion and a 2 loss runner up

-Oklahoma is bound to lose some game that they aren’t supposed to and could lose the rematch with Texas.

-Clemson is the one team that can’t afford a loss. They usually drop a game that aren’t supposed to

If any of those 3 happens then an one loss non champ Alabama is in with the PAC 12 and ND eliminated from the hunt.

Re: As of today:

It's unlikely but possible.

PAC12 best rep has 2 losses: not a stretch
ACC: Clemson has 1 loss: conceivable, not likely
Big12: OU losses to 2 or 3 loss Texas in champ game: very possible

So if 2 of those 3 happen and Bama has one close loss to LSU, they would have a great chance to get in.

Bama, SEC champ, Big 10 champ, 1 of the 3 above scenarios that doesn't happen - probably Clemson going undefeated.

Again, not likely but still very possible.

LSU looks formidable - Bama will still be favored.

Re: As of today:

Simple - As of today there is still a half season to be played plus all conference championship games. Almost anything remains possible, including getting 2 SEC teams into the CFP.

So, yes, absolutely, but Alabama is not losing, so why ask?

Re: As of today:

Right now it’s Clemson, OU have mostly locked down two unless something weird happens.

That leaves 2 for the B1G and SEC

tOSU and Wisconsin will tussle. Twice likely. Both could have a loss after

So it comes down to Bama and LSU.

Provided Gus doesn’t ruin the plans.

Kirby could mess things up, too.

Re: As of today:

As of today here are the facts as I see them:

1. If Alabama loses to LSU then LSU wins out, it goes to Atlanta to play either Florida or Georgia.
2. If Alabama loses to LSU and beats auburn then they have an outside chance assuming LSU beats Florid or Georgia in the SECC game.
3. tOSU plays Wisconsin on 10/26 in Madison. If tOSU wins and finishes undefeated they will likely have to play Wisconsin again in the B1G title game. It is possible that if they split then both could get in. If tOSU wins both they are in.
4. OU will likely face Texas in the B12 title game. If OU loses they could still get in with one loss. If Texas wins the rematch they may not get in with two losses even though they would win the B12.
5. Don't think the PAC 12 champ will be in play.
6. Clemson is in barring a major upset.

If Georgia beats Florida and wins the East and beats LSU in the SECC game, then a one loss Alabama would be left out. This scenario would be the same if UF beats Georgia and beats LSU in a rematch in Atlanta.

The teams that could get into the playoff.
1. tOSU
2. Wisconsin
3. LSU, Alabama, UF and UGA
4. Oklahoma
5. Clemson
