Atlanta Braves 2026 season discussion. (1st half)

Another year, another Acuna injury. Dude has amazing talent but all these injuries are going to keep him from achieving MLB greatness. I’d hate to see him leave ATL but I’m not sure he will be worth the price tag he will demand because of all the injuries.
I would consider trading Acuna this year if I could get a good haul for him from another contender. A good OF and a handful of prospects or another competent starting pitcher. Who knows what you could get for him. I don't see the Braves resigning him and with his injury history I'm not sure they should put that much money in a player you can't count on being in the lineup no matter how talented he is.

Acuna will probably end up being one of those players that people will always ask "what could have been "

I couldn’t stay awake for the game last night. Looks like just one bad inning killed us.

We hit 3 HRs and didn’t have one guy on base for any of them. They hit two, a 3 run HR and a 2 run HR, that was the difference.

It sucks. Murphy is back and promptly went 0 fer. Harris is limited and his replacement went 0 fer. Acuna out and his replacement went 1-4.

Our pitching has slowly been regressing even though the offense has continued to propel the team to wins.

There is really only 2 starters that are dependable and, once again for another year, a bullpen that only has a couple dependable arms. Most concerning is the amount of walks stacking up by Braves pitchers.

With injuries mounting, the offense could be slowing which will only amplify the pitching issues.

The Braves starters lead the MLB in innings pitched per start yet Weiss continues to talk about how worn out the bullpen is. I think he is basically admitting that there are only a couple dependable arms and they are over worked. We are going to have to suffer through the other guys and hope the offense can overcome them.

I say all this because I think the team is about to enter a stretch where they struggle to keep this pace of winning going.

Braves win to tie the series. Still got a chance to win the series today. Olson hit a homer in the 9th to take the lead and Iggy got the save after putting a guy on base to make it interesting. Game was on Peachtree TV locally, so I got to watch. I was mostly awake the whole time. I nodded off when they were up 2-0 and woke up after we tied it, but got to see us take the lead.

Olson is on a tear at the plate.

He’s outpacing even his 2023 season right now.

Elder and Sale have both been pitching well.

Ritchie is doing okay as a Rookie and you can see his potential.

Perez and Holmes have been decent with only 1 truly bad outing each.

If we can somehow get Strider fixed we’d have a pretty good rotation to go with a much improved offense this year.

I actually look forward to checking the Box scores and highlights this season…lol

Olson is on pace for 50+ HR. Our pitching will get even better if/when we get Schwelly and Waldrep back!

I keep thinking Riley will hit a hot streak soon.

Hopefully Acuna will get back to his MVP form again.

I cannot say enough great things about Drake Baldwin. AA needs to get him locked down.

Perez is on the bump today. Late afternoon early evening game depending on your point of view. I want the series win. Let's go!

Walt Weiss has had a golden touch so far with all the crazy moves and chances he's taken. I give him a lot of credit; he's had to try to build depth and find warm bodies with all the injuries. Today may have been a step too far. He may feel like he has no choice but to keep rolling the dice.

The series loss was obviously bound to happen. Not too concerning, three close games against a good team on the road.
