Game Thread: aTm @ USC

Re: Kudos to Kenny Hill

All you said /\ /\ /\ He showed great leadership, maturity, poise. Johnny Foosball had 1 out of 3. I had wanted the Old Ball Coach to win his 200th game last night, but TA&M, mainly Hill, put the whammy on him and USCe.

Now, let's get on with the show. . . the Blake and probably Jake Show.

Re: Kudos to Kenny Hill

I was very impressed with the young man. A&M has really recruited well since joining the SEC. Texas fans had better hope their new coach pans out because the Aggies are taking full advantage right now.

Re: Kudos to Kenny Hill

I don't see where we need a thank you thread on a Bama board about a future opponent's QB. He did nothing for Bama and there are plenty of great examples of sportsmanship in sports everyday. There were plenty of opportunities to express those sentiments in other threads. If aggie played Bama thursday it would be relevant, but they did not.

This.

Think they were listening to the talking heads that said Sumlin would fall on his face. When he came out and offense looked even better than last year....well they were shocked.

Yeah, and I don't get that. KS was a really good coach way before Johnny football.

Ditto.

If you don't like the thread ignore it. There is nothing wrong with recognizing someone had nice game, no matter who they play for.

+1.

I don't necessarily agree - look at the TOP from last night's game:
aTm: 37:38
USC: 22:22

By way of comparison, Alabama averaged 32 minutes TOP per game in 2013, meaning the D was on the field for 28 mpg. Same numbers for 2012. IOW our defense was on the field (on average, per game) more in 2012 and 2013 than USC's was last night.
I'm not following you here. Based on this it looks like their defense was on the field 37 minutes last night. There is a big difference in ability to sustain over 28 minutes versus 37 minutes.

Simple fact is since USC wasn't going to have a healthy Davis on hand they came in with a game plan built on the pass that wasn't well executed that played right into A&M's hands. Had they committed to more running and short passing they probably could taken at least 10 points away from A&M just because of time spent even if those drives didn't yield points for them.

Re: Kudos to Kenny Hill

I think what Kenny Hill did most of all is proved how overrated John Manziel is. I mean Kenny Hill is a fine talent and will be a threat but it seems to me that the real offensive king of the Aggies is Kevin Sumlin.

With that said, I do agree....we don't need a thank you thread for a rival.

You must not watch a lot of football.

First , there is nothing wrong with me expressing my displeasure of the thread, if you didn't like what I had to say, simply ignore it. Second, he wasn't expressing his opinion of Kenny hill's performance in a game context , but of how he handled himself compared to Manziel. As I stated. There were other threads for that. There was the game thread, what we learned thread, etc for those opinions. I felt it wasn't necessary to start a thread just for this and stated so.

If the thread is out of line the mods will delete it. Have a nice day and Roll Tide!

No, if aTm held the ball for 37:38, that means the aTm defense was only on the field for 22:22 - vs the 28 mpg the Alabama defense was on the field in 2012-2013.

IOW, having a HUNH offense doesn't mean you wear your defense out, as some here seem to suggest - if the offense is effective, you hold the ball just as long.

Yes, the last thing the SEC needs is more players who comport themselves with class.

One of the confusing things from game last nite was Spurrier not slowing the pace and eating clock to rest his D and keep TAM offense off field. He has used this tactic very well in past against HUNH teams, but came out running a somewhat fast-paced offense himself...it played right into the Aggies hands. Why go away from what has worked in the past? Of course wit zero pass rush and a consistent 15 yard cushion on receivers, it really didn't matter what the offense did.

Just a bad performance by USC, not a good way to end an 18-game home winning streak.
