Attending first bama game.

Things have changed a lot in Tuscaloosa since my first game on homecoming in 1973 against Virginia Tech.

The Tide beat Virginia Tech 77-6. The Crimson Tide set multiple NCAA records in that game.

That was way before all the modern upgrades and renovations.

There is not a more beautiful campus in my opinion that you can visit. Have fun!

Now you bring back memories. I had my appendix removed and was still in the hospital. I was 14 at the time and listened to John Forney and Doug Latham call the game on the radio. Doug ran out of adjectives to describe how well the wishbone ran that nite. Its just one of those games that I happened to be in hospital and remember that exact game.

We are about the same age. I was 13 and my dad let me borrow his Super 8 camera to film some of the game.
If only that film still existed...:mad2:

I was at that game also. I had been to a lot of games with my dad at Legion Field but it was my first at BDS. Virginia Tech was terrible then and I remember Coach Bryant emptied the bench that day! Great memories! RTR!

My fist game was bill curry's first game. In 87 no games were played at bds. I worked overnight parking lot security when they reopened bds the next year. Part of my payment was a full access pass to anywhere in the stadium. 😁

Mine was The game vs. Penn St. Bama lost but to me it was AMAZING. Now I appreciate the classic nature of it. As a kid I had no idea why both sides fans were so pumped. Enjoy the game. Hopefully my home town will make a good impression.
