Re: Auburn picks up THREE commitments

Well, I was the one who mentioned having midgets block. Sometimes a 5'9" 185 WR guy can block, if he devotes his whole body to the task and has unreal body control (Pro). The rest never came up against a 240 LB in their lives and will never learn to block them...
Thought that was you who said that Earle....LOL... It is true though, then again how many of these guys are going to be another TP??? I would venture to guess ZERO and it leads me back to saying the barn is taking what most SEC coaches take if they cannot land the BIG fish~!~

Re: Auburn grabs FIFTH commitment in last 48 Hours

I hate to start another thread about Auburn recruiting, but this is absolutely crazy. I have to question their motives here. These guys seem way small for the SEC. Their latest commitment came from Aaron Moore, an Offensive Tackle from Texas. He's 6'5 and only 250 lbs. His only reported Division 1 offer is from Auburn, and he took them up on it. 5th Commit in the last 2 days.

http://auburn.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=84553

What gives?

Like many of us have said in the other post they are grabbing at anything that will make it LOOK like they are on some sort of recruiting hot streak.. All one has to do is look at what they are bringing in and see that it is pretty sad ~!~ I hate to knock the young kids but I gotta admit that I love to see them taking all of the 2-3 stars out there~!~
Just wait till their character players meet our football players~!~

Re: Auburn grabs FIFTH commitment in last 48 Hours

Okay the guy had offers from TCU, OK St. Baylor and a few smaller schools I cannot even remember so let me put it this way... What do these schools all have in common??????

They all grab what is left from OU, UT and Kansas= the barn is now at the level of recruiting and taking second tier guys and its only June~!~

I love it~!~

Last year's Barn mantra: the big dogs walk last.

Well, that didn't work so well, as Bama got big dogs first and last.

I guess this year's the new mantra: why wait for the big dogs when you can scoop up all the pugs early.

Whatever floats their boat, I guess.

I think I got it. Tuby doesn't want to get any more grief about his duck hunting hindering recruiting. So, if he fills up next year's recruiting class on a first-come, first-serve basis, he'll be able to check that off his to-do list by August. Nothing to do but go hunting after the season. Brilliant!

Re: Auburn picks up THREE commitments/ Auburn's FIFTH commitment in 48 Hours (Merged)

This is really starting to confuse me. I can understand why he is going with the smaller, faster skill players. That is probably due to the switch the spread and trying to get guys who they feel can make plays in space. But, offering an offensive lineman from TX that has no other offers, and offering him this early?? Now, that is just odd. I wonder if they are trying to go to smaller, but quicker linemen? If they are though, why would they have taken that Guard the other day who is about 325 lb and slow? I know Saban, Richt, and Meyer are kicking Tubby's azz in recruiting right now, but is it THAT bad?

Here is what he had to say about Auburn:

"It's a great school and I'm a huge Auburn fan and have been even before we went to their camp," said Moore. "I think playing in front of 95,000 will be outstanding. On top of that, I think it's a great school and I love the coaches there."

They're filling up their class now so they can say that they didn't have room for Nico, Tana, Dre, and Kendall anyway - after they commit to Bama of course.

Wow :eek2: They have 16 commits already, including 3 JUCOs. I didn't know they had that many. I have to read the West Auburn (Montgomery) Advertiser, and even they haven't really talked about their commits or anything. At this rate they should be finished before the season even starts. I thought they were saying how their new offense was going to attract all of these offensive all-stars. But they won't have any room for these "late comers." Maybe they are worried that once kids see the offense they will be looking elsewhere, so they are trying to get them committed early?

Some may think you're making a joke but I've been thinking it might well really be the case! Happy Hunting, Tubbs! Or are you just gonna phone that in, too?

Re: Auburn picks up THREE commitments/ Auburn's FIFTH commitment in 48 Hours (Merged)

the reason that auburn chose to offer the "top o-lineman prospect from texas" is because he is a teammate of aubarns top qb prospect Ryan Mossasowski (they didnt want mccarron)

they both play for Frisco High in texas..

aubarn is pathetic..

I didn't realize this guy was from Greenville. St. Joe hasn't exactly been a football powerhouse as of late, and I haven't heard of anything lately that says anything has changed. However, they did have luck with one Greenville native.....the band director himself, Quenton Groves!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Auburn picks up THREE commitments

You know the more I read and the more I see the barn picking up these commits it seems as though tubbs is just taking anything that walks. There might be one or two really under-rated players in all of them and the rest will be just what they are 2-3 star decent but not good enough to compete in the SEC players. I remember BAMA recruiting these same types after probation and before CNS got here and look where it landed us~!~ We were always competitve but the lack of players able to compete in the SEC cost us many games and our streaks we now suffer through~!~

I now get the feeling tubbs has concluded he will not sign the best talent in the state and is grabbing what is left while he can to help save face. I see he is trying to recruit WR's to go with a "spread" but while they have the speed are they really the type needed for the SEC, look at uf they have big, tall and fast WR's who were highly ranked and it shows come game time. Like someone said before these smaller WR's have to block in the spread and really these guys are a bit small for that task when CNS is recruiting CB's and Safties who are 6'2+ and 190+, then LB's who are 230+ with 4.5 speed .........

Let them keep living in a dream world cause when the talent we got last year and the talent we are geting this year collide it will be like the perfect storm~!~

I think you've nailed it here, IMO. Florida is running the spread but doing it with alot of guys ready to play now. They won their recent championship with a fairly young team but it was loaded with talent, and high profile talent. The Barn on the other hand, is getting commits and players that seem to be "project" guys and tweeners, who are quite a bit undersized, and not yet SEC ready.
The main reason though, is I think Tubby is playing to the barn fans, trying to show them he's "killing Bama" (LOL!) in recruiting after his lack of effort and poor showing in last years class.
