Bama getting no respect

If you do not think the IB performance hurt our chances with THIS committee then you have not been paying attention to their rankings and their comments. From the first poll 'til now, they have been looking for a reason to put Oregon and Texas in over Alabama. They both blew out their rivals and Bama struggled. That's just another notch in favor of them and not Bama for THIS committee.

A win over UGA will earn some points for Bama but, I don't think we jump Oregon if they win. Our only sure way in is for FSU and Texas to lose this weekend. It's a toss-up if Texas wins and this committee has been leaning Texas all year. I think it would be to close to call even with a win over UGA.

Basically, I think this is how the rankings will be Tuesday:

1 - UGA
2 - Mich
3 - Wash
4 - FSU
5 - Oregon
6 - Texas
7 - OSU
8 - Bama

I think the Wash/Oregon winner is in, 100%. This committee has been telegraphing this since the first ranking. Mich and FSU are in with wins. So, what happens if Bama beats UGA. It's Bama vs Texas and I think they will lean Texas. I know, I know, we would have just beaten #1 but, this committee has been hammering head to head for Bama/Texas and I don't think they will stop.

They have set H2H up to be the deciding factor for weeks, all but said so in interviews. I don't think they care who Bama beats, it could have been 10 top 5 teams. The Texas loss has done us in with THIS committee.

Maybe I will be proven wrong. I'm wrong most of the time. go find my IB predictions.
This committee will absolutely have Michigan #1 on Tuesday. Their obsession with the B1G is 2nd only to the Whack12.

Small point - Ohio State is stuck at 11-1. If Alabama wins, you will be 12-1, as would all those ahead of us. Ohio State's only chance to make the CFP is for both FSU and Texas to lose, and we still likely get knocked out by a 12-1 Georgia.

Fwiw I think you guys would edge UGA in that scenario due to SOS and how well the committee has viewed both Mich and tOSU.

UGA would have a much worse SOS with a neutral site loss while tOSU's loss was a close 6 point loss in a hostile road rivalry.

Not arguing with a word here except to say Texas did not blow out their rival. They lost to them - Oklahoma.

Texas Tech is not a rival to Texas in any sense of the word. But with this committee, they most likely view it that way since it was played on the final weekend. Texas has not had a final weekend rivalry since the A&M game was shelved due to the aggies leaving the Big 12.

100% - I grew up in Texas - actually went to Tech. Back in the day, (old SWC days) the 2 games circled on every UT fan's schedule were OU and TAMU. The only thing that makes Tech in any way a Texas rival was the fact that they bumped them out of contending for the BCS a few years ago. No more a rivalry there than OkSt and Iowa St.

So...

Looking over the latest moronic committee rankings.

The top undefeated team is Georgia.
The lowest ranked power conference one loss team is Alabama.
The top two loss team is Missouri.
The top three loss team is LSU.

Make it make sense.

Also, a couple fun facts.
The #14 team (Louisville, second in the ACC) lost to 3-5 in the SEC Kentucky.
The #15 team (Arizona, third in the Pac-12) lost to 1-7 in the SEC Miss. State.
Alabama beat those two teams by a combined 51 points.

Too much logic....you have to go with the "feels" lol

I am surprised although not shocked Alabama hasn't moved in the rankings at all in the last 5 revisions. We'll move to #6 if we beat UGA and UGA will go to 5. that's how ridiculous this whole thing is. Bama fatigue was apparent when the entire nation was claiming the dynasty is over (again) back in september, but now they're robbing these kids of their work

The Kentucky AD is on the committee

Another factor that the committee takes to heart is head-to-head results, especially involving one-loss teams. We have seen Texas ahead of Alabama all season in part because of the Longhorns' win in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It's also the best win any team has this season, and that will still be true on Sunday. The committee has been consistent all season with the relative placement of those teams. Alabama beating Georgia, should that happen, is unlikely to change that.

One more thing to keep in mind is that the committee does not care about the history of these programs or their conferences in this event. Their job is to evaluate these teams based on what they have done this season. That's it.

So UT has the best win this season. (Over #8 Bama). And even if Bama beat UGA, that’s NOT going to change. Even though

Bama will have beaten #1
Michigan will have beaten #6
Washington will have beaten Oregon
Oregon will have beaten Washington

Yet Texas will have beaten a team deemed unworthy of getting in. Yet the only one to have beaten the #1 team will be left out.

What planet are we on?

The last paragraph sums up the basis for their lies and obfuscation. They are protecting the PAC teams. I want to know why. It can't be about ratings. Those teams have no fans.

Just read that no team outside of the top6 in the penultimate ranking has ever made the playoffs.
They have moved a team ahead of two others that didn't lose though, right? And in this scenario 4 of the top 8 are going to play each other, so it's theoretically possible within that framework, even without an additional loss. Having said that, the committee clearly did everything in their power to keep the door open to leaving Alabama out.
