Bama Has a Stronger Ground Game

I think Bama has a stonger ground game because of our more experienced O-line and the ability of the TE and WR to seal the ends. The left side is also our bread and butter.

We are averaging about a 100 more ypg than UGA.

Nevertheless, they like to run in the power I with a FB leading-a formation that our ILB had problems defending against Arkansas. Our ILB weren't effective at shedding and stopping the FB, and McFadden took advantage as I recall.

I'm not sure if UGA has a good FB, but Mustin, McClain and the D-line should come ready to play a physical game.

I look for Saban to blitz more than we did against Arkansas. Hopefully or D will continue to generate turnovers.

BAMA 34......4TD + 2 FG
UGA 27......3TD + 2 FG

Our MLB had no problems defending that, even against a Heisman candidate, until he went out with a stinger. IF he's good to go, as reported, I'm not going to worry about that as much as their QB suddenly catching fire...

It's pretty obvious that we are a better defense at the point of attack when Mustin is playing. He's always around the ball it seems. If he's playing, I think our defense will be serviceable against the run and the biggest concern is breakdowns in the secondary and the pass rush.

Just wondering does anyone know if Herb Winches has been able to talk with Wally Butts this week to verify that UGA's ground game is not as good as Alabama? ;)

Not worrying if he has to drop back into coverage makes a big difference. We'll see this weekend how he does.

When the RBs get 6 to 7 ypg I don't think you would call that successfully defending the run; and I bet Saban wouldn't either. Granted when Mustin was on the field we were effective against the Hogs running game. If the LBs stay healthy, I look for the TIDE to out-rush UGA by 100 yards easy.

Yes, Stafford could pick on our secondary, but I don't think they have an arsenal of WRs and FLs like we do. They don't have any playmakers at WR from what I've heard. Hopefully, if we can rattle him with pressure, our DBs will be alright.

Yards won't tell the whole story. Bama will attack outside and GA inside if all the scouting is correct. Bigger 2 play chunks could be less effective than 8/9 play drives. Ark exposed some things and Ga thinks they can do something with it. Rumor has their FB at "very good".

They have that little shifty tailback, Morenoe, or something like that. Anyway, he is very quick. But the flip side, their O-Line has had 3 different lineups in 3 games, and they are shuffling this week. They start 2 true freshman. If Gilberry, Greenwood and maybe Washington can handle some froshes, the we control that line.

Here is something that scares ,me, Stafford. He isn't a bad QB, and he likes to run. Our LBs are fast, but if we start getting pressure on him, I can see him breaking off big gains. Like the Auburn games last year.

Their WRs are nonexistant and even they know that.

Personally, I don't think Georgia brings quite the running game that Arkansas does. Those 6 or 7 yards a pop were largely due to D-Mac and Georgia doesn't have anybody close to him in talent. A sidenote to that is Arkansas was relentless with the run and it beat our Defense down. I really can't see Georgia going that route so I think our Defense stays a little more fresh on Saturday. If Mustin returns close to 100%, I doubt they rack up alot of rushing yards, especially with an O-Line that has some big ?'s.

As for the passing game, I think Stafford will be the best QB we have seen so far but who are his targets? There's not a big play WR like an Earl Alexander we saw from Vandy at Georgia, so I am optimistic that we can hold our own in the Secondary. My biggest fear is Stafford himself. He is known to run and we have had some issues in the past containing a running QB.

Running qb's have always caused us problems in the past. Hopefully CNS solves that problem.

BTW, the Vandy receiver was Earl Bennett.
