Bama Homecoming Bands

"The top five artists students requested were Dave Matthews, Kenny Chesney, Maroon 5, 3 Doors Down and Jimmy Buffet. UP tried to book all five artists, but they were unavailable, Griffin said."

Don't have a clue who the 2 booked bands are but I can guarantee if it were Chesny or Buffett - I would have been sleeping on the quad to get front and center!!!!

Both bands are quite good. Laugh if you will but I have seen Collective Soul play. Don't miss either of these bands.

I've heard of Better than Ezra, but not Collective Soul. Yikes -- I must be getting old! ;)

However, I trust you Bayou -- will be sure we make our way over to hear both bands.

I LOVE Better Than Ezra. You all have heard some of their songs but probably didn't know who it was. I have all of their CD's and they are all excellent start to finish. They do sound kinda mid-to-late 90's type of progressive rock, but they are great. If you heard the promos for 'Desparate Housewives" this fall, the "aw, aw aw aw aw, juicy" song that was played during the commercial was from BTE's latest CD that was released in June called Before the Robots. Get it. Or better than that, get the Better Than Ezra Greatest Hits that was released last April.

Brief history--these guys are from New Orleans and are all in their late 30's. They started their band in the late 80's and played fraternity parties at LSU around that time. Their breakthrough CD "Deluxe" featuring hits "Good," "In The Blood," and "Roselia" was released in 1995. They have continuously released semi-successful CD's and singles that have receive national airplay, but for whatever reason, they have never really hit it really big.

I would love to be at this show. I have seen them live several times. But as a father of a 3-yr old and an 18 mnonth old, I just can't get out to college parties like I used to.

Both bands are great! I've never seen Collective Soul live but I love their music. I have seen Better Than Ezra live and they are AWESOME! I highly recommend everyone checking them out Friday night.

exiled, jr. saw BTE @ last Spring's New Orleans Jazz Fest. He said they're great in concert. (he's 17 & tends toward either hard rock, old-school jazz, or bluegrass, by way of giving additional context).
