One thing we have to acknowledge. For Nate effort is more important than the results. He’s going to play the guys that are trying the hardest.

Aden didn’t even play the last several minutes either. Nate was making a point about defense.

And both of these are why we are seeing more and more of MoD and for longer stretches.
Frankly, in games like last night and with OM, not playing smothering defense will get you in trouble.

If and I mean nothing off the court happened in Sears life then being benched again whether he pulled himself like before or not he probably lost any first round shot by lack of leadership. Leaders go through adversity. Without knowing anything at this point it’s a bad look.

Think Stevenson plays because of injuries but at some point potential means nothing and you are what you are. Decent effort but weak and a liability more than not.

Seems like Grant should avg 15 plus and 10 rebounds a game but at times is lost so idk what to think about him. But seems to give effort most of time.

Overall win and roll tide but seems like team came in thinking easy win. It’s a grind so great job overall and give CNOs credit for benching guys especially the leading scorer in SEC. He knows the potential of team and is pushing hard. Always great to win.

It will take a different level of effort and focus to compete in February in the SEC. Best to send those messages now.

So I have hears about Sears and Holloway shooting a 1000 shots a day to stay inform. I wished I was hearing the same about Stevenson. It's past time for him to get his offense back.

I also I can't see continuing to give Sherrell minutes. To be a big as he is he plays passive around the rim and camps out around the perimeter too much. There is a real maturity issue with him imo.

Honestly, the only player playing with any confidence on the offensive end is Holloway.

If you go back and watch LSU for most of the season you will understand that LSU played well above their heads last night. We were their tournament game. They were fighting for their playoff lives and it showed.
Bama did what it needed to do to gut out a win.
If Sears took himself out because someone was playing better than he was and gave us a chance to win and was was/is that unselfish then I have great respect for Sears. He didn't get pulled because he wasn't giving effort (my opinion).
We have nowhere near reached our peak and we're still in line for a #1 seed in the tournament should it start next week.
LSU just had the big bodies to muddy the waters, so to speak, and keep us from having a big # of transition opportunities.
Tip of the hat to the team for digging deep and getting the win.

Sears isn’t going to be an impact at the next level. His stock was highest last season and he still came back because NIL was the most he could make. He’s too small, turnover prone, below average on defense, and he’s got a bad attitude. There’s already been another blowup between him and Oats this season that had him almost quitting the team. That wasn’t broadcasted though.

Let's reel this one back in, we don't know the details but we do know that coach said he went with the guys that gave them the best chance to win ... and a win happened. I trust CNO and the team to sort anything else out for the sake of winning a championship

Saying that happened is out of left park. That isn’t even enough to qualify as rumor and nothing shows he has a bad attitude overall. You seem to have a bone to pick with him.

I have no idea what happened or why but I could not have more respect for CNO

He was already my favorite Bama BB HC of All-Time but now I think he's #2 period in School History behind only CNS for me.

He's at all times only going to do what's best for the program and what's best for the players as a group and as individuals and you can't ask or hope for more than that from a HC.

I was concerned it was a JM 2.0 scenario. I think he is overvaluing his importance to the team and CNO decided to show him his value.

If you are going to play hero ball you better play like a hero.

"More and more, Oats is revealing himself to be more similar to Saban than not — where he wants to win, of course, but he's more focused on process and effort and consistent, high-level performance than he is the actual scoreboard."

LOVE IT
The question - are the players willing to participate? Saban left because his football players were not.

That’s what I tell my kids. Work hard and the results will come. But, if you come up short and gave a great effort, I’ll still be extremely proud of you.
