I was a freshman at UA when Curry and Sloan were hired. My admittedly faulty memory tells me they were hired at the same time as the PTB decided to split the HFC and AD positions. Bryant and Perkins had held both.

I'm sure I'll be quickly corrected if I'm wrong.

I don't think he did/it was. When Stallings was hired, there were rumblings that he was in fact Bryant's preferred successor, but I don't think anyone knows that for sure.

I had heard Stallings was his choice but the admins thought he was getting senile so they went with Perkins.
