We are where we were at starting the tournament asking the question of “how far can our pitching get us”. Rarely do teams just find hitting in the WS but it is possible. I think our most likely hope is replicating JMU in 21 in just shocking UCLA and OU with inside pitching then taking advantage of hitting opportunities.

I think there really are no expectations with this team so every win is just icing on the cake of what looked like an unproductive season that turned out to be great Cinderella story. I still think we have a shot against UCLA but I think it’s Oklahoma, Okie St, Florida, and Texas’s tournament. Stranger things have happened and like they say in poker… a Chip and a chair.

I think 8192 has a good point. I’d rather be on our side of the bracket than the other. I like our chances against a very good but maybe not great? Bruins squad. And, the way Beav and Briski are pitching, we are gonna be hard to beat.
Texas is 1, Stanford has the best ERA pitcher in the nation, and don’t have to face Okie St and Lexi Kilfoyl early on. Sets up nicely i

very happy for Heivilin at 2B with some great defense after a couple of tough ones early in the UT series.

here’s a great nugget- Tennessee has been to CWS
8 times- and they certainly are an elite program over the past 25 years.
We’ve been now 15 times- pretty amazing difference.
And while I certainly want more Nattys, UT UGA AU LSU would take our one in a heartbeat.

Bama's top 2 pitchers ERAs are 1.58 & 2.17 with a team ERA of 1.89. In 2021 FSU's top 2 pitchers ERAs were 1.61 & 2.30 with a team ERA of 2.34. Eerily similar.

if I recall correctly however that FSU lost to UCLA and beat Arizona, Okie St, and Bama twice. They really benefited from Alabama beating UCLA because they never had to face an elite hitting team again until Oklahoma. Sandercock destroyed us and FSU always had Montana’s number.

I think winning Game 1 vs UCLA is crucial. Because either having to beat UCLA or Oklahoma twice to avoid elimination is not a place you want to be.

Well, I will certainly be pulling for them and hope they can continue the magic. One piece of that magic has been Riley Valentine. A month ago it looked like she couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. But late in the year she's found her swing. She's now making good contact at the plate. Missed a dinger in game 2 by about a foot, then had the grand slam yesterday. Is it her "rally worm"? Whatever, I hope the ladies continue the magic.
