Bama Game Thread: Bama PostGame Thread - Bama vs. OU...

Agreed. We got the ball back with like 6min left, and ran the clock out on ourselves, at home, before reaching midfield. It was a deliberate gamble that I did not agree with. Why force yourself to rely on one single 85yd drive.
Given how our defense had played to that point, we should have scored as quickly as possible and trust the defense to get a stop

I am sure that OU was thrilled to see us fall into the trap of running the ball and the clock by dropping the safeties deep...it was too good for Grubb to pass up apparently but it also didn't help us move the ball since they could stop the run with their front 4-5 pretty much.

Ryan should have made the catch on the last play it was a tough play but it’s something a 5 star standout should be able to make. The other problem is he cut his route just short of the sticks and if he caught it he wouldn’t have got the 1st down.

17 points on 3 turnovers. Eliminate those and we win 21-6. Eliminate only 1 of those turnovers, or hit a chip-shot field goal, and we still win. If that was the case, I think the tone of the posts on this board would be very different.

I haven't studied the game as much as some on here. And I haven't re-watched the game. I'm going from one pass, during the heat of the moment. Here's what I don't understand.

It seems like we put together a good drive and score, then stop doing what we just did to put points on the board. When we stick with the short-to-mid range passing game, we're very hard to stop. We have elite receivers who can get open if we get it out quickly. Why are we running slow-developing pass plays that expose the poor blocking of our OL and subject TS to sacks and hurries? Why do we try to force the run game when that's not our strength?

We can blame the OL and our RBs who can't find a hole to hit. We can blame TS for holding onto the ball too long instead of running or throwing it away. But, at some point, you have to ask why the OC is not designing a game plan that maximizes our talent and minimizes our weaknesses. When we do what TS does best, and what our WRs excel at, we're almost unstoppable.

I was a big fan of CRG but I'm starting to sour a bit. I think he tries to be too cute at times. Just figure out what works and do it. Over...and over...again...until they stop it.

I agree with you about Carroll. My point is that he and Deboer’s other OL recruits and most portal acquisitions have the same body type as most of the players he inherited. Proctor and Brailsford are the only outliers. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you meant.

Not all of them are 320+ lbs. There are OL recruits that are 300-310. There are a few under 300 LBs. When going to the portal you sometimes have to take what you can get especially if you're desperate.

Williams is greatly underperforming for what hes getting paid. Hes got a lot of work to do this offseason.

Pure speculation but maybe he’s trying to stay ahead of the defense.

It also makes the offense a jack of all trades, but not really good at one thing.
