How in the world does a RB like Terry Grant slip under the radar?

Size-5'10" 187
Speed- between 4.4 and 4.5 forty time
Stats-
As RB -2,615 yards, 31 touchdowns, 9.1 yards per carry
18 catches, 411 yards, 22.5 per catch, 5 touchdowns
As LB -84 tackles, 8 sacks
Offers-Clemson, Miss. State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Alabama

1st team All-State in Mississippi, Prep Sports Weekly Player of the Year.

This is information gleaned from Rivals and Scout.

Thanks for compiling that, doc....

The staff can be picky with RB offers. With offers only to McCoy, Scott, Brown, Cox, Dixon, Dupree, and now Grant....he must've impressed them. Eugene Sowell was competing with Grant, and Sowell hasn't gotten an offer; just some insight as to how good Grant might be.

I don't think Terry Grant has slipped under the radar, especially Bama's radar. They got him to camp and now have made an offer.

Bumper Crop of Prospects from Southern Mississippi
Lumberton has one of the state's top two running backs in Terry Grant, who gained over 2,300 yards as the Panthers won the 2A State title.

Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Clemson all have made scholarship offers to Grant, who could wind up at defensive back in college.

"The attention is all about working hard and not getting lazy," Grant said. "I have talent, but must work harder to get better."

WOW!! Getting quality players like Pharr and Motley this early in the recruiting process is great. Shula, so far, has been a man among boys at the recruiting game. Let's face it, a team that has gone 10-15 the past two years is not an easy sale to a 17 year old kid who is looking for immediate glory.

Also, having a solid class in tact way before NSD will hopefully sway some of the other blue chippers to commit to the Tide. They'll see that they wil be one of many great players coming in, not one of a few.

RTO22, or anyone else, are there any other players looking to end their recruitment early? Perhaps a few names we should be on the lookout for? I realize it is still early, but I've already caught the recruiting fever again. The rush I feel when I learn of a new commitment is about as good as it gets in the offseason! Thanks everyone and ROLL TIDE!!!

RTO,
Any idea why no one is jumping on the Chris Evans bandwagon? He's from Alexandria, Alabama and, according to Bamamag, is 6 feet 190 lbs., and runs a 4.5 forty(4.45 BOL). He had 2,333 yards as a junior with 34 touchdowns. Also, he was runner up 4A Back of the Year, and 1st team All-State. Yet no offers are listed. I think this guy had a good sophomore year, too, because I began hearing of him preseason last year. I know we've already got a good listing of RBs, but I would think Chris Evans' stats would get him some attention from somebody.

that's a good question that I have no answer to. He's got the grades and the numbers. UAB looks like the closing school to offering right now, and maybe Clemson. Lifelong Barner, fwiw.

I like what they said about him being an avid weightlifter. A year or so to try and get a little bit faster and he could be a good one.

So, I take it Scott Deaton will not be taking the Bryant Scholarship? Last I heard he was in line to take it. What is the word on that? Thanks and ROLL TIDE

Isn't Jake Wingo already on a Bryant Scholarship? If so, then there must be multiple awardees since Scott Deaton has been talked about receiving one for quite a few months now.

My kids go to Springville, I don't know the kid personally but watched him play, he's got good feet and can catch, look for him to dissappear in the weight room for a year or two and emerge about 240 or better, for a bigger guy he looked very natural running in traffic. dosn't have lazy feet, can shift from side to side, but when cornered, will lower his head and make you pay.

Hey RTO, According to Scout TE Cory Powers has us as his leader after camp. Do you think the staff will offer him, or are they more interested in Dial and Goggans?

Is it that Hanrahan will take the Bryant Scholly in the upcoming recruiting class of '06? Because I think Wingo got it in Shula's first class, the high school class of '04. Then, Deaton took it in this years high school class of '05, and now Hanrahan in '06. Could this be correct? Thanks for all the great info guys, ROLL TIDE

Jed from North Carolina discusses Bama prospects C. J. Bailey, Andre Smith, and Daron Rose with Crabtree. Crabtree said Smith and Rose are two of the best offensive linemen in the country. Crabtree said Florida appeared to be the top team for Daron early in the process but he can go about anywhere. He thinks Rose will take his time in choosing where he will go. He thinks that Smith will probably stay in state and he likes Bama's chances with him. Crabtree said that C. J. Bailey really impressed at the camp and that if Alabama offers him a scholarship that might be a done deal because he is a big Alabama fan.

Kenny in Alabama asked Crabtree how Alabama's 2005 signees incoming class looks and who does he expect to make an immediate impact? Crabtree said that the news with Upchurch qualifying is good news. He said that it is key to get the running backs, If Upchurch, Ford and Coffee get in school there will be a great opportunity for them to come in and make the biggest impact. He also said Bama's signed an extremely impressive offensive line class. He likes the jobs that Coach Shula and staff have done in Alabama and especially in Florida which he thinks will be the building block for the future for all of Bama's classes.

Seems as if Franchione is getting ready to snag Jordan Pugh (CB, Plano, TX). I hate to lose anything to that rat, especially a player of Pugh's caliber.
distance quickly became a factor in his recruitment, despite his dad's being a strong Bama fan.
