Bama vs. Indy in the Rose Bowl - Jan. 1

One of the first things Cignetti said after winning the Big Ten was ruminating on how he would bring his team back down to Earth for the playoff run. There is more Saban in him than I want to see on the other sideline.
Funny thing about these team’s coaches is that Cignetti is a descendant of Saben’s Alabama and Deboer was at Indiana in 2019.

Well, most of the Bama fan posts I see in social media platforms seem to think Bama will crush the Hoosiers. It is nice to see some that think this will be a close game.
This isn't a spar board, so I won't, but I'll give you this piece of friendly advice since you are new. 3 things....

Your first mistake is to equate Bama fans on social media with our "TideFans" board. Most of us (except the new ones) have been here a long, long time and came here because we tried other sports boards that didn't have the quality of posters you'll find here (if you are really open-minded). The unspoken rule here is: "It's not what you say, but it's how you say it."

Second, you might better check your facts about the SEC. There are plenty of stats/deep dives on this board. What you'll find is your conference isn't as ferocious as you apparently think. Seems like the B1G 2.5. But hey, you are one of them, at least for now.

Finally, there's a difference in a blueblood and newblood. Learn the difference. Typically, most all here act like they've been there...because we have. And if you'll check recent posts, almost everyone here is giving "Indy" (it's slang for your state just like folks call us "Bama") a lot of respect and admitting you're a very good, well-coached team. Also, we know we'll have to play a great game to win, but we also like our matchup too!

Welcome to TideFans!

Most of the coaching staff, and the strength coach, have ties to Indiana. Strangely enough, it was Saban who brought the strength coach , which has been speculated as the beginning of the end for the Alabama physicality edge.

You would think they would do just a little bit of current research; the Indiana defensive player to watch is Stephen Daley. You can watch him in street clothes as he is out/injured. Hurt knee in OSU post game celebration. Interesting to note he played EVERY defensive snap against OSU. If they had quality depth behind him; he would not have need to play that much.

Boy Indiana fans act like they are the fans of the school that has won 18 NC. They can write us off as mediocre if they like. The truth is we’ve been through a grind of teams stacked with NFL talent they’ve played maybe three all year. Our matchups with Georgia and OU alone top that.
Think lowly of us if you want but we are battle tested and finally back healthy. You’ve played a 3 game schedule at most and that’s counting a horrible PSU that was without a head coach. It will be a good game but It’s absurd to come in here and beat your chest and look down your nose at us.

I’m gonna have to go with the Indiana fan on this one. “Indy” is short for Indianapolis, and I absolutely cringe when I see posters using it on here. NO ONE refers to the state of Indiana as “Indy”.

Nobody’s sure what to call them, they’ve never been relevant. Heck even their own coach is/was trying to move away from the Hoosiers and wants to call them the Bison…legit…and I think he lines the DII pronunciation!!! Bi-zon…🤷🏼‍♂️😱✌🏻

Daley was hurt in the post-game celebration...??! Musta' been quite the celebration..
I saw a video of it the other day... he was literally just jumping up and down a few times high-fiving a fan and then it happened. Just crazy, but with all the wear and tear these athletes go through I guess it can happen any time. Hope he heals quickly and also hope his replacement is not as good :)

I think it will be a close game. Hopefully Bama wins! I know weather forecast can change but right now they are having flash flood watches there. It is supposed to rain the day before, the day of, and the day after the game. I had thought about going, but with the prices being so high/travel during the holidays, and now the possible weather issues, I will just stay home and watch on TV.
