BAMA falls to the Lady Vols in game one 5-0. It was 3-0 after 5 innings. BAMA replaced Beaver with Torrence who gave up a double, then a dinger to make it 5-0. BAMA was not good at the plate again. Left 6 on base, and was 0 for the game with RISP. We're a decent team against teams outside of the SEC, but not so hot in the SEC. I blame it mostly on the hitting as our cold bats rarely put any pressure on the other team. I think we are 6-11 in the SEC now. We need someone who can fix it.

Late start today. I was out eating crawfish and watched the game on replay. Didn't know what happened ahead of time. BAMA falls 2-0 to Tennessee to lose the series. BAMA had 1 hit in the game, and that was a nice bunt by White in the 6th inning. Tennessee got their two runs on a single after an error put a runner on second, and a solo dinger the next inning. Tennessee's got two really good pitchers. Briski threw a great game for BAMA. I think she threw a 5 hitter, but as has been the story against just about every good team this year - no offense. But it was Patrick Murphy bobble-head day.

One hit off a bunt? What is Murph doing to this team? I am sure we are a laughingstock among the recruiting circles in the SEC.

It's a pitcher's duel so far today in T-Town. Scoreless after 4 and a half innings. BAMA coming to the plate. We do have a couple of hits today but they have been scattered around. Beaver is shutting them down so far, and has looked really sharp. I hope we don't waste another good pitching performance.

BAMA gets a two out triple by Kenleigh Cahallan. Tennessee changes pitchers. Brings in the flamethrower that threw yesterday. White hits a high infield chopper and beats it out. BAMA scores their first run of the series. BAMA leads 1-0 after 5 complete.

Beaver gives up a one out single, but shuts down the other hitters. 1-0 BAMA after 5.5 innings. BAMA coming to the plate. It would be nice to get Beaver a couple more runs.

BAMA gets a one out single from Emma Broadfoot but nothing else. Still 1-0 BAMA, going to the 7th.
Beaver has thrown a beautiful game, and is 3 outs from a much deserved victory. Hope she gets it.

So, BAMA is now 9-12 in the SEC. (yes, unheard of territory for BAMA). Last series of the year is next weekend at Auburn. Need a sweep to avoid having a losing SEC record for the first time. Auburn's not great this year so we have a good shot of doing that. Hope we can. Still need to find some bats. We did win 1-0 today, but if we don't get that triple we may not score. We didn't do much the rest of the game. Let's hope for a sweep next week.

I admit that I am disappointed in the offense the last few seasons, and the results from the past few seasons do point in a negative direction for the program.
Through 7 SEC series, the series record is now 1-6. Going on a 25 inning scoreless streak in any season is alarming.

However, I am a fan of this team. The team has shown that they can beat anyone. I don't expect the team to make a run and win the SEC tournament, or make it to OKC, but the team has grit and fight to it. Beaver is a great pitcher, and has some serious competitive fire. I just wish she was provided more run support. I'll be watching as the rest of the season unfolds.

Hopefully, the poor performance at the plate this year will bring about some changes that will improve that situation. I don't know if we need better hitting talent, better coaching, or what, but something needs to change in the approach to result in more run production.

Bottom line is it has taken a herculean effort from our Ace in the circle to BARELY grab 1 out of 3 against the quality teams in conference play. And, with the SEC improving yearly, that is everyone-much like Gymnastics. Beav has been very good but has been a one year band aid. Briski MAY end up being very good if she stays. I'm sure AZ teams are sniffing around to see if she wants to transfer closer to home. I've never been this pessimistic about the future of the program. I feel like Braud was brought in to help with chemistry, team building maybe? but has never coached before. Turning the program over to her is a non-starter. If we don't catch fire here at the end of the season, dominate AU on the road and maybe make a little noise in the postseason, I'm beginning to think Byrne may nudge Murph out and bring a whole new coaching staff in. Without a couple of big time recruiting classes (with BATS) I don't see it getting better quickly. AND- as UT shows, you gotta have 2 aces these days. We've never been able to do that it seems.

Hey HSV, I agree. I do like this team as these ladies do fight to the end, no matter what is going on. I'm glad we got Beaver that 1 run as I was afraid we might waste another great pitching effort. I'd like to see us catch fire at the end of the year, but I'm not sure our bats can do it. I think we will do well against Auburn. Auburn is kind of like Ole Miss, and we did do a decent hitting job in the Ole Miss series. That's the only SEC series we have won this year. We have a "good" team this year. The problem is, to compete in the SEC you have to be better than just good. Hope we have a strong finish.
