banner ads...pop-up ads...auto-play ads...help me understand

I've used an iPad and iphone for the past several years to access Tidefans, but I've just started using an Apple Macbook. Now I've got ads to the left of me.....ads to the right of me.....and video ads popping up too. I can't scroll the forum without a big huge intrusive advertisement after every 5th topic. why didn't this happen on my handheld devices, but now happening everywhere on my laptop? Please help an old man understand how to combat this intrusion!!!

Did you mean duckduckgo or is goduckgo a new thing...?

GoDuckGo is a browser you can download and it blocks a lot of ads that can cripple a page. Just google it, download and install the browser and enjoy smooth surfing.

goduckgo would have to be a new thing - I mean, new like since I started typing this reply ...

duckduckgo is a good browser. I have used it for several years now, and I like it a lot.

Oddly enough, I have more trouble on my ios devices with multiple ads covering up content.

Sometimes to the point that it is unreadable. YMMV, of course.
