The transfer portal looks like it is going to be crazy this year and probably the new normal. I expect there to be lots o guys putting their names into it. It will be interesting to see how teams manage it with going after guys and how many scholarships you have. Do you try to grab a guy or two early or do you wait hoping a better player or fit for your team goes into later on. You also have to worry about if signing a guy or even rumors of connection to someone causes one of your players to then decide to leave. It will be a juggling act for a lot of coaches and staff keeping up with who is in it out of it and keeping your number of scholarships set. Basketball is but different because unlike football most the positions are the same compared to football with lineman receivers quarterbacks and such. Most players in basketball can fill 2 or 3 positions just on your style. A shooting guard can play small forward or even play point at times. You can go small and make a power forward or big small forward a center.

There is definitely some interesting names and guys that could fit in nicely with our system so it will be interesting to see how we go. I think we will loose a guy or two in portal as well.

I am not surprised by this. He seemed to get inconsistent minutes this year after the injury. He is former McDonald’s all-American so I believe he want to get starter minutes to show what he can do. He played solid defense but didn’t attack the goal much and was more just spot up shooter so minutes would still been an issue especially if JQ returns.

Hopefully we can convince him to return. With the NIL in play, it's not a bad move on player's parts to at least see what your value is. None of the guys coming in would replace him as a potential starter for next season so I wouldn't think playing time would be an issue.

His comment in the al.com story -- “I’ll miss all these guys as I -- journeys go forward." -- may tell us all we need to know.

Well we have all learned that the portal giveth and taketh away. So hopefully we can add a couple of transfers that fit our system and maybe even improve quality of the roster.
Our projected roster for next year would need two quality transfers and a couple of high impact freshman (not necessarily Brandon level, but sure, why not?) to remain in the top tier of the SEC. If Noah returns, I would happily recalibrate.
