Question: Braves 0-6 start. When do we start panicking?

Nice game.....scored more in one game than the previous 5 games combined.

When the Dodgers tied it in the 8th....I knew that was it. I don't think there's much life in that Braves dugout.

It has to change. It just has to.
Start with the two men steering this ship and go from there. For a team picked to finish as NL East champions this is just embarrassing even though it’s predictable.

I know it’s vs two of the best two teams on the road without your best toys but at some point you need atleast 2 wins out of your first seven to get a little sense of momentum. There are still 155 games left to make it up but all the blunders in the offseason seem to be living up to the concern most of us thought.

I really was expecting a 2-5 road trip considering the opponents. Not 0-7.

Definitely time to hit the panic button...Snit should have retired after last season, the bullpen is disastrous, and the new hitting coach and lack thereof is pathetic. I'm not completely writing them off just yet, but with the teams the Phils, Dodgers, and even Padres have I don't look for much even if they do right the ship...

I put this in the other thread but putting it here since this one is more active.

Bats finally wake up, for 2 measly innings, but the bullpen blows it anyway. Braves have the worst closer in MLB, even when he gets saves, he's going to allow a few on base almost every time.

Of course, Ohtani was going to walk it off because Snit never pitches around the best hitters in the league. He was 2-4 on the night before that AB, the next 2 guys were a combined 0-8. Snit is the worst in-game manager in the league (been that way his entire time in ATL).

Braves do score 5 runs but, don't get too excited. All 5 were unearned. In fact, out of the 14 total runs  they have scored this year, only 6 have been earned. Braves have only score 1 earned run in the last 49 innings. I have got to hand it to AA, it takes talent to put together an offense this bad. 👏

Braves are still on pace to lose 162 games and have 1620 strike outs.

I just saw this lovely stat, no team in MLB history has ever started a season 0-7 and made the postseason. The 2011 Rays started 0-6 and earned a WC spot. So, will the Braves make history or pack it in?

Yeah, but this stat doesn't mean near as much as it once did.

Prior to 1995, you had to win either the league or the division (1969-93) to even make the post-season. The wildcard made it a LITTLE easier and the current play in status makes it even more likely.

Don't get me wrong, it's still highly unlikely.

But then again, look at the teams that start off the exact opposite?

13-0
2023 Tampa Bay Rays - did not finish first, made wildcard, went 0-2
1987 Milwaukee Brewers - third place, 7 games behind (got to 19-3 then lost 12 in a row)
1982 Atlanta Braves - won division by one game on last day (lost 11 in a row and 19 of 21)

11-0
Oakland Athletics - won first half in strike season, lost LCS (8-game losing streak to end May)

10-0
1966 Cleveland Indians - finished 5th out of 10 at .500
1962 Pittsburgh Pirates - at 13-5, they lost 10 of 11, undoing the streak
1955 Brooklyn Dodgers - okay, they won the WS, becoming the first team to come back from down 0-2

Most teams that are really "streaky" have losing streaks that undo them just as easily. It's far better to consistently go 4-3 every week during a baseball season, which would be 92 wins and get you in the playoffs almost every year.

Guys, it's baseball. There are 162 games in the season. I remember the year they started by getting swept by the lowly expos in 4 games. Those days I watched almost every game on TV. These days, I just passively keep track of them. Starting 0-8 is pretty rough, but baseball is a game of streaks. They just need to start by winning series.
