I lived in both states. When i moved from Alabama to Tennessee about ten years ago it was usually about Auburn not Tennessee. When i moved to Tennessee it was always about the "Cheating Tide" from UT fans. The obsession that UT fans have against BAMA is plum scary,IMO. I lived in both states, so i think i'm very qualified in this matter.:BigA:

Red's rules for rival boards.

1. Act the way you expect rivals to act on your own board.

2. Lurk long enough to find out the taboo topics and stay away from them.

3. Neither bash the locals nor kiss their butts.

4. Have a thick skin, there are loads of juvenile jerks on every board just trying to pull your chain.

I joined the TF Facebook page, so everybody can put my smiling face to the enemy
You don't have to go to Facebook; you can upload your portrait as your avatar here. That's actually me over to your left...

I don't visit rival boards but I would agree with what Red said. Be aware and respectful of what's going on and present yourself like a grownup.

And though I don't frequent other boards (I did post on Tidesports 5 years ago) it is clear to me that this site is first class in every way and our rival friends that visit (from Arky, Tenn, LSU, etc.) are top notch, too - spirited discourse but mature, which is rare these days.

The only other board I post on now, besides 'Bama boards, is TigerDroppings. It can be frustrating going back and forth with some of the Auburn fans over there, but I like the LSU fans overall. I couldn't stand the Kool-Aid on other rival boards I've posted on in the past.

I used to visit and post on four rival boards. I'm down to one and am about to stop posting there as well. You can bet dang that there's a near 100% chance that Bama will be the most hated team of which ever rival board you go to so have that understanding when visiting.

There aren't many civil boards that will actually have an adult and objective debate or conversation with you once they know you're a Bama fan. It's mostly trash talk that leads to personal attacks. The moderators do nothing and all you do is get frustrated. But if you like that kind of stuff knock yourself out.

tigerdroppings? Not koolaid? Lol, you must love verbal beatings. They absolutely hate all things BAMA on that board. No offense, but there's too many delinquents on that board to be taken seriously. I've lurked a few times, that was enough for me.

Beat me to it Cat. I graduated high school years ago and haven't really felt the need to go back. So I stay off that board. :)

I've only visited three rival boards,
Volnation - Everyone has Bama hatred on the brain. Too much so to permit any type of civil conversation. I once had a membership there, but it lasted only a few months. One of the mods once made a seething comment towards the Tide, and when I returned the favor, I was banned.
Six-Pack Speak (MSU) - The conversations were fairly civil, but they allow too much profanity for my preferences. IMO, the more profanity one uses, the less intelligence they possess, thereby staining any semblance of intelligent conversation. I lurked there for a while but never considered a membership.
Tiger Droppings - A combination of both above. Bama hatred with severe profanity. Even short visits burned my eyes.
AU boards don't even pique my interest.
Even though I lived in SC many years ago, I've never visited their sites. Do they even have sites?
I don't have enough interest in other schools to even lurk on their sites.
I'll stick with TideFans, thank you. :BigA:

I don't post on our most intense rivalry boards (the only ones of interests) any more. For one thing there are too many members on them whom I've banned from our boards, so it just gives them a forum to take potshots at me. :D When we have interesting OOC games, I'll register sometimes, just to provide local info for them.

I take y'alls word that rival boards are filled with hatred toward Alabama. Life is too short to waste time reading what they have to say. Never been to a rival board no plans to give it a try.

I've never been one to much care about what others think on rival boards, so I've never joined one and only on a very rare occasion will I lurk on one. That being said, if you want to indulge in that sort of recreational activity, put on your armor and/or your thick skin and (most importantly) represent the Crimson Nation with class. Don't embarrass your own fanbase.

I visit more during the season, especially if one of our rivals suffers a particularly humiliating loss (say 29-9 or 36-0.)

During the off-season I find it pretty much a waste of time, especially since all the AU boards seem to talk about us Bama being put on probation and all the NCAA wings that have set up permanent camp in Alabama for the sole purpose of uncovering recruiting violations by us.

I'd rather read about MY team while remaining somewhat sane.

On the AU boards, you get to read brainy threads like "Bammer get ready to be dominated." At the same time, there will be a three page thread bewailing their lack of depth and predicting disaster with any injuries at all...
