I'm in the Charlotte market so I've watched their first two games.

I'm really worried about BY. I don't think he has the talent around him to help him, but it's been pretty bad both weeks so far.

Carolina traded away 2 whole drafts to get him. Their management did not think things thru and must have assumed Bryce was do good he did not need help. I hope he gets traded somewhere that has an Oline and some talented receivers. He has nothing right now.

He was put in the worst situation possible. If I’m him I try to get a trade out of there. Carolina is a dumpster fire even with a new owner

Agreed - he has the same problems seeing the field that Tua has. Great arm talent, but he needs some serious QB coaching. Yeah, and a team around him.
???

Never heard someone say he doesn't "see the field."

The biggest issue is his receiver can't get any separation.

For instance, on his first 3rd down pass today, BY threw a PERFECT pass that hit his receiver in the hands but the defender was so tight on him he was able to get a hand in to break up the completion.

Oh I have. Both don't read field well. They can struggle for a half or a game, and then bounce back. They are inconsistent at times.

Will add, his height may be an issue in terms of having to create throwing angles taller QBs don't have to worry about, but there's nothing he can do about that and has worked around it at Bama with similarly sized OLs.

I'd agree to an extent on Tua and it was widely known he made a lot of pre-snap decisions no matter what the defense did.

But what BY did his last year with BOB's offensive playcalling was nothing short of miraculous at times. He certainly seemed to see the field then.

Look, no one said that he was a bad college QB. He was great at Alabama. Should have won at least one championship. But the NFL requires a lot more. And the word going into the draft, and which continues to be said, is that he does not see players as open until they are already open. In other words, he can't see the field - can't see how players running certain routes against certain defenses will become open at certain times and locations.

I didn't take it that you were saying he wasn't good and I'm not trying to defend him except to say, that's a critique I hadn't heard.

Ironically, maybe per what you are saying, his last couple of INTs the commentators have said he's trying to anticipate and make the throw before his receiver breaks open. So it sounds like he's working on it, but it must be a work in progress.

I do think the lack of talent around him isn't helping though.

College you can get away with a lot of stuff because the #1 defense usually doesn’t have the absolute best players in the sport whereas in the NFL you can play the 32nd best team and are playing against teams loaded with the best players in the sport.

It’s why I always rolled my eyes everytime someone suggested that any Nick Saban Alabama team could actually stay within 20 of the worst NFL team.

Bryce is playing on a bad offense but at some point he has to get better at reading and reacting or he will be done very fast. The NFL is alot faster and far more unforgiving than college. Results go further than excuses

Seriously, what it really says is how hard it is to predict which college players will be good NFL QBs.

Who had Tom Brady as their GOAT when he was at UM???

A more recent "surprise" to me is Brock Purdy!
Brady might have been more recognized if Carr didn’t scare every scout and GM into believing that he had no faith in Brady by benching him for Drew Henson. Really if you want to be honest, Nick Saban destroying Henson that day basically put Brady on the path of being great.

In a way luck and making the most of an opportunity plays probably a bigger factor than raw talent.

I hope Bryce is successful in the NFL, but in all honesty I don't think he will be. I also think there is a lack of elite QB talent in the league right now. Particularly, when you compare it to where the league was 12-15 years ago with Brady, Rodgers, Brees, the Mannings, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Ryan, and even guys like Warner winding down his career and Wilson starting his. In that time period, you could name 10 really good starting QBs, but you'd be hard pressed to name 10 really good starting QBs right now.

I love BY….but Carolina made several significant improvements in the off-season especially along the O line, but also at Receiver, that I was hopeful would improve the situation. Not to mention the coaching upgrade.

It’s not looking good for sure.
