Since USC knew nothing about this, I hope that they don't get sanctioned. Sure, that means that the NCAA is not being consistent, but I don't wish bad things on others, especially when they did nothing to deserve it. Those left at USC did nothing wrong.

Bush should lose his Heisman, that would be enough for me...
Not to sound callous but as someone has already stated Do you really think USC didn't know what was going on with such a high profile player?
Agreed the players at SC (and that's truly unfortunate) would get the dirty end of the stick but they can't let the school off if they (staff) knew anything at all about this....... It just sounds inplausible to me that no one knew.

What makes you think that USC knew nothing about it? Myself, I find it hard to believe that they're that clueless. It's not like this is their first rodeo.

Re: Uh oh..looks like Reggie Bush may be in trouble

"Reggie Bush was a full-time student at the University of Southern California and never lived in the house," Cornwell said. "As is the case with most 20-year-old college students, Reggie was not aware of personal or financial arrangements relating to his parents or their house. Mr. and Mrs. Griffin now realize that, given Reggie's profile, their personal decisions can reflect on their son."
Duh........
No nothing wrong..... "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"Just a big misunderstanding.......... ...

Re: Uh oh..looks like Reggie Bush may be in trouble

This is the key paragraph.

NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes and their families from receiving extra benefits from agents or their representatives.

Question - What does Bama do to actively track the living arrangements of our athletes families? Followup - did the family formally change their address of record with USC? Are they required to do so?

I think that you guys live in a dream world...

Agreed, which is why Bush should be held accountable. Now, if there are no rules forcing schools to track families, how do you enforce that against schools where they claim ignorance?

Re: Uh oh..looks like Reggie Bush may be in trouble

Look ya'll are beating a deadhorse on this. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will happen to USC other than some bad press.
the Ncaazi's could care less about USC, and consistency has never been a attribute they have.
It's not the SEC and It's not ALABAMA. They get a pass!

Here's a post from their scout message board:

Reggie Bush violated NCAA guidelines and Southern Cal will have to give up the NCAA 2004 National Championship which Auburn should have won anyway by having the best football team in the country in 2004. Therefore since Auburn was the only major undefeated and untied football team in the country which did not cheat then AUBURN is 2004 National Football Champions.
Auburn fans are truly pathetic. Even without Reggie Bush, had they played USC that year they still would have gotten stomped! If they want to blame anyone for not winning a NC that year, they should blame their AD and coaches for playing such a pitiful non-conference schedule.

Get Fullmer and a few secret witnesses to rat them out. ;)

Sort of like accounting for boosters eh?
So you agree, the NCAA should leave USC alone? Or do you think that USC should suffer the same horrid treatment that we did?

What is wrong, is wrong - no matter the parties involved...

I think you fail to realize how well coaches know their players...and loopholes that obvious  are not loopholes.

Re: Uh oh..looks like Reggie Bush may be in trouble

I was kinda confused by this section:

"San Diego County records show the 3,002-square-foot home has an assessed value of $339,394, including $99,394 for the land. State records showed construction was completed in early 2005 and Michaels purchased it for more than $757,000 in late March."

How do you pay more than double the assessed value of the home? I know the real estate market there has been crazy, but I can't imagine a loan for double the value. Especially for a new house.

Re: Uh oh..looks like Reggie Bush may be in trouble

Grandbay,
Assessed value and appraised value are two different things. Assessed value, while based on appraised value is usually a percentage of the appraised value. Here in Georgia, the assessed value is 40% of the appraised value. So if the county appraises a house for $200,000 it's assessed value would be $80,000. Also, with theis being in California, a house appraised value in the county assessors office is frozen until the house is sold. At that point the new appraised value in the assessors office is then based on the new selling price and will be frozen until the home is sold again. It is a flawed system in the fact that it is not a fair and equitable system.

You didn't answer my question, nor did anyone else. If all of you know that USC had to know about this, tell me what mechanism is in place to make it so. I suspect that no such mechanism exists, and that the NCAA has no expectations that such a mechanism exist. If so, this boils down to speculation, and USC will (and should) be found blameless unless someone can PROVE that they knew this was taking place...

What mechanism PROVED that Logan Young paid $150-200 thou for Means? What mechanism PROVED that BAMA had anything to do with Travis Carroll's truck purchase? What you're failing to understand is that there's no crusade to bring USC down, but, by God, we want to see the same standards applied to EVERYONE. That's plainly not the case presently.

So you're saying that if USC denies any knowledge of the situation they should get a pass? Did UA officials know that Logan Young was (allegedly) paying HS coaches in Memphis, building a house for Albert Means' mother, sleeping with the devil's wife, etc? If USC gets a clean bill of health from the NCAA in this matter, it invalidates anything done to the University of Alabama and, for that matter, any other school that was was not directly involved in improper activities as it relates to student athletes.

Surely you must realize that many Alabama fans hope to see USC get slapped around pretty good over this (assuming it turns out to be true). I think we're tired of seeing everyone get off scott free for transgressions worse than those we were castigated for.

Yes, I realize that and think it is pathetic. You claim that we were railroaded for an offense that was out of our control, so you want everyone else to get railroaded with us. And that makes it better? How?

The NCAA is out of control and needs to be completely dismantled. That should be the focus of the Bama nation, not this pathetic stuff.

If you feel that Bama was innocent, you must also feel that USC is innocent. If that is the case, how could you call for their receiving equally poor treatment by the NCAA?

Petty behavior like this helps no one...
