What exactly has he done? Ironically he’s recruited at an Uber high level and has to replace his lineup almost yearly.

The question is: who do they get? It’s telling that the coach left on his own.

The timing of this scares me, given that a top option ended his season just last night. If UK was seriously considering paying Cal $33 million to go away, they’d be glad to pay our $18 million buyout. If I were them, this is where I would head, and I doubt we would get into a bidding war. I hope I’m jumping the gun over something we won’t have to worry about, but if that happened, losing Oats could devastate the program.

Hopefully loyalty and the afore-mentioned chance to build his own legacy here would win out in that event.

Cal was going to be the coach next year, so the buyout did deter them some.

Him leaving of his own accord saves them millions. Arkansas has also had two turn them down. Calipari is getting a fresh start at a school looking to get rebuilt.

J Boogie would be the only guy we would go after, I think we were in pretty good shape with him during recruiting. If Sears leaves, I wouldn't be surprised if we put the full court on him.

According to UK forums, the fans want Donovan, Danny Hurley, Oats or Lloyd out of Arizona with Scott Drew and Pearl getting votes as well. Many believe Oats to be the best realistic option. Going to be a few anxious days.
