With Cal leaving (and he is) buyouts don't mean anything anymore, also reported that Tyson ( biggest donor to the hogs) is going to give 5 million a year for NIL , you can get a lot of players with that chicken money

Just saw this and must say this is a real head scratcher. Cal was likely getting a lot of heat from the Kentucky boosters and even the AD. Whoever elects to go to UK will have a rough time to start since most all of these high school phenoms will also be gone. If UK truly wants to rid itself of Cal and build a solid foundation and get back to where they were then I would go after Hurley or Oates.

Sounds like Calipari is taking a pay cut to go to Arkansas. UK was paying Cal quite a bit more than the latest contract extension pays CNO. Interesting days ahead.

Kentucky is going to be a very tough job for whoever takes it. They'll expect to win the recruiting national championship every year and get to the final four every year. In the new world, those goals seem at odds with each other. On top of that, there will come a time when the PTB decide to restore some order and the new coach will have to be able to adjust to whatever those realities are.

Kudos to Arkansas. They're definitely willing to risk a lot of millions on a 65 year old coach. Really could be a huge win or a colossal screw up.

$5 million is nothing compared to the $40million Alabama spent on a golf course. 😀

What exactly has he done? Ironically he’s recruited at an Uber high level and has to replace his lineup almost yearly.

The question is: who do they get? It’s telling that the coach left on his own.
In this lady’s mind, she’s tired of the one and done kids he recruits. He keeps getting one year assassins and can’t mold them into an actual functioning team until it’s too late. They’ve lost too many games because the kids don’t play well together and that is on the coach.

we were talking about that for sure. It's going to take a mixture of can't miss NBA talent and guys who have grown up in the system to succeed in college basketball I think.

That's a fair assessment, IMO. It's by design due to Cal's approach. Interestingly, his best teams were when they had players come back. We learned that lesson last year, too. We should be celebrating back-to-back Final Fours, but the most talented team in memory bowed out in the Sweet 16.

Lets go ahead and make a move on Boogie and J Quaintance as well. We definitely have a shot at Boogie, think he would have come to Bama initially if we hadn't been so stacked at guard this past year.
It will be interesting to see what Fland and Quaintance do. Will they follow Cal to AR? Will they stay with UK?
They will have plenty of options.

Both of them had a blue million offers, but Boogie seemed to be considering BAMA before signing with UK.

You may be right, but I don't see Fland shying away from BAMA because of any one we already had on the roster.

Just my 2 cents, of course. :)

Cal does a lot better job when the pressure isn't as high, he did well at U Mass and Memphis, I think he'll do well at Arkansas but time will tell
