Can anyone here read Japanese?

A family member has an old sword with Japanese writing on it. Every time he submits the writing to one of those apps to translate, it says something else.

I can try to take a stab at it.

I've been studying Japanese for a few years and can read at an intermediate level.

As long as it doesn't feature any archaic outdated Kanji I can probably parse it out and explain why different translations happen.

I'd need either a really good close picture of the engraving or even better the Kanji/Kana as typed text.
