Tulane beat USC in the Cotton Bowl in 2023. Tulane is in New Orleans, near Baton Rouge (where LSU plays). LSU played USC and lost. And when Tulane looked at their page to post something, they saw they were still blocked. Or something.

Also, not only is New Orleans near Baton Rouge, Tulane and LSU used to have a massive rivalry. There was a day that Tulane was considered a southern power. And while each school went its separate way, Tulane chose academic priority while LSU chose partying and crawfish, the roots of that rivalry live on.

Tulane used to be in the SEC, but left the conference in 1966, to do, as you said, emphasize academics. I wonder if they ever look back now and kick themselves. They might be a Vandy, but with all the SEC money that would have flowed into the program, who knows? They are a decent team right now.

They and Georgia Tech probably do have some regret, but I suspect the hubris is strong with the leadership of both schools.

Georgia Tech was still competitive when they ducked out, but Tulane was on a pretty bad run of mediocrity by that point in time.
