Since 1964 the Bama football team has attended a service at Calvary Church in Tuscaloosa. The Charlie Compton Award is given annually to the player deemed best Christian Leadership/Example. The player is selected by his fellow teammates.
This year there were co-winners for the award.... Jalen Milroe and Tanner Bowles.
Congratulations to these two fine young men!
The award is named after Charlie Compton who was a very good Bama player,. a World War II hero, and then a missionary to Brazil for 22 years. Charlie was tragically killed in a car crash in the early 1970's.
This year Charlies's granddaughter was on hand to present the award.
