Do you intend to show your work, complete with the appropriate equations and data?

Now, now. At least tidenstory is acknowledging the possibility that man-made global warming exists. For the right, that's a radical position.

Here is your study: stand in the sun for ten minutes, then stand in the shade for ten minutes then tell us which was hotter, stand on asphalt, concrete, your roof and tell us which is hotter those items or your grassy yard or in forest shade.
And you need another study to convince you asphalt in the sun is hotter than grass?
Your second study is to put any man made object in the sun, then tell us which is hotter, that object or the soil underneath uncovered or, better yet, uncovered and shaded.

Is anyone arguing that deforestation is not a problem or not a contributor to climate change? No. So what is your point? That CO2 is not a main driver of climate change? That deforestation does not lead to more CO2 that leads to greater warming in addition to the immediate local effects? Please make a point.

Good on you for recognizing that industrialization has turned parts of the world into heat sinks. But that's only one contributing factor, even if it is a major one.

The problem was exacerbated along the California coast by a 2013 heat wave. The average kelp canopy cover off the coasts of Mendocino and Sonoma counties in Northern California fell from 2 million square meters to 60,000 square meters over the course of two years, according to the Nature Conservancy. This marine heat wave, known as “the Blob,” along with a fast-spreading marine virus, all but wiped out the sunflower sea star, the main predator of urchins.

Kelp are essentially the ocean’s equivalent of trees. They absorb carbon dioxide and nitrogen compounds, helping clean the atmosphere while capturing up to 20 times more carbon per acre than land forests. They also provide a vital habitat for a broad range of marine life; without them, entire ocean ecosystems would crumble.

But the size of kelp forests off the coast of Northern California has shrunk by more than 95 percent since 2014, according to satellite data analyzed by the Nature Conservancy. Other regions have had similar losses: Tasmania’s canopies have decreased by 95 percent, as have Chile’s. Globally, kelp forests along coastlines have declined by a third over the past decade, according to a paper published in the American Institute of Biological Sciences journal BioScience.

It certainly feels as if we're past the tipping point - it's no longer whether we can avoid the effects of climate change but rather how drastic they're going to be.

I have a feeling humans are going to find the world a less hospitable place in the next 50-100+ years.
