You know it don't count if it's posted in thd football threadsI guess it was till rumor at the time but...
mlingerfelt31 posted the rumor first on the Good News Thread in the Football Forum at 7:20pm.
That's about as definitive as it can be. Byrne followed this up with a statement with extensive pleas to fund the Yea Alabama collective.
Interesting on the collective. In the last year or so, I've heard both Byrne and Oats speak, and in all cases they've advocated for the collective, not a new arena. That's about as definitive as it can be. The Oats to KY concern happened waaay back in the regular season when they were struggling.
It got brought up a time or two IIRC.
CNO is one of the hottest names in Bball right now. He's connected to the Hurley coaching tree. He runs a very player-friendly kind of offense (a shooter is encouraged to shoot and chastised for NOT shooting!!!) and our fan base has eaten up the entertainment value of this offensive style.
We knew the big dogs would come after him in time. I think CNO's commitment to Bama when he could have named his price at KY is probably the biggest story of Bama basketball history...right on the heels of our first Final Four!
There's nothing like watching our offense when the threes are falling, and the guys are running. In one game this year, with one minute remaining, they overcame a 6-point deficit and won in overtime. The sadness brought on by watching Bama teams pre-Oats seems like a bad dream. Thanks, coach for fully embracing Tide Basketball. May you have many more happy and successful seasons in Tuscaloosa. The Oats to KY concern happened waaay back in the regular season when they were struggling.

I thought the collective(s) couldn't be directly connected to the school(s)...perhaps I have misunderstood the rules.Interesting on the collective. In the last year or so, I've heard both Byrne and Oats speak, and in all cases they've advocated for the collective, not a new arena.
Not saying that every fan and Athletic Department employee doesn't want a new arena. Just that it appears Oats feels the collective is more important than the arena.
Remember the NCAA has stopped all investigations into violation of pay-for-play rules and said it wouldn't initiate any new ones.
I haven't yet heard any UA representative at any level advocate for this, but I'm guessing there's about to be a collective component to Tide Pride donations.
As in, I predict that TP will rise by at least $100 per seat (football and basketball), with the increase earmarked for the Yea Alabama collective.

That was the original plan, and I guess it's still that way on the books.I thought the collective(s) couldn't be directly connected to the school(s)...perhaps I have misunderstood the rules.
Didn’t Tide Pride go up already? Seems I know someone who had tix and they dropped them because of the TP dues growing by an absurd amount (in their eyes).Interesting on the collective.
