I've never really liked these inferences made between the arrival of Saban and a coach's departure. "They've been processed", etc.
In a sense, sure, the arrival of Saban has raised the bar for most of the other SEC programs. I really don't think Saban made Kiffin want to take a slightly more prestigious job in Kiffin's estimation. I really don't think Meyer got a medical condition due to Saban. I think Fulmer was skating for a few years in Tennessee - before Saban was even at Alabama - and 2008 was just the last straw. Bowden was in a do-or-die season and it wasn't so much the loss to Alabama but the string of losses in conjunction with the loss to Bama.
There is really only one firing/resignation that I think Saban had a good degree of baring over: Tuberville at Auburn. The boosters didn't like seeing Auburn getting their tails handed to them by Alabama on the recruiting trail and they knew they probably needed a change which is why Tubby was gone after his first losing season since year one in Auburn. Even then, you could argue that Tuberville was gone at first falter after Jetgate...but would that falter even have happened if he had Mike Shula to beat at the end of every season?
