Give him a month to hang around players and recruits and coaches convincing them all to go with him…which is exactly what would have happened.I understand all the arguments against Kiffin coaching Ole Miss in the playoffs, but is it cutting off your nose to spite your face, in a sense? No one knows the personnel and offense better than Kiffin. By not allowing him to coach, you are pretty much guaranteeing you won't host a playoff game.
And what coach gives that team the best chance to win? Does anyone really believe it's Pete Golding?
He hadn’t done much at Ole Miss yet at that point so not as much buzz around him?So if LSU was this smitten with Kiffin, why did they not go after him when they hired Kelly?
To be fair, Urban & tOSU both knew immediately they wanted him to take over. It was almost presented as if, "If we don't go ahead and promote him, he'll leave to be HC elsewhere."IIRC, when Urban Meyer retired tOSU promoted Ryan Day from OC to HC. That hasn't worked out too bad.
Lane, is that you?
1st- LSU is only good because Nick Saban set the expectations that they should be good. Before that they were a second to third tier program.
