Coaching carousel 2025-26

I understand all the arguments against Kiffin coaching Ole Miss in the playoffs, but is it cutting off your nose to spite your face, in a sense? No one knows the personnel and offense better than Kiffin. By not allowing him to coach, you are pretty much guaranteeing you won't host a playoff game.

And what coach gives that team the best chance to win? Does anyone really believe it's Pete Golding?
Give him a month to hang around players and recruits and coaches convincing them all to go with him…which is exactly what would have happened.
He’ll still get a bunch, but not like if he’d have stayed.
We got soooo bent @ Kirby , deservedly so, for the way he left. Imagine giving Lane Kiffin a month
to “take pictures of your board.” Nope…

Kiffin had better lace up his booties and get busy. If he doesn't win a NC at LSU in 4 years, he'll be back on the coaching carousel...only not as popular as he is now.

Reactions: Oregon Tide
IIRC, when Urban Meyer retired tOSU promoted Ryan Day from OC to HC. That hasn't worked out too bad.
To be fair, Urban & tOSU both knew immediately they wanted him to take over. It was almost presented as if, "If we don't go ahead and promote him, he'll leave to be HC elsewhere."

PSU could've named him permanent weeks ago and been ahead of this bonkers timeline

Lane, is that you?

1st- LSU is only good because Nick Saban set the expectations that they should be good. Before that they were a second to third tier program.
2nd:

NFL Today gets it!

He doubled and tripled down on Kiffin this morning. As a Steelers fan, Cowher is probably my favorite NFL coach of all time. He left the game when he clearly had more to give because he knew there were more important things in life than football (to be with his family as his wife was getting deathly sick). I have always respected the man and he is the model that a coach should be.
