Coker Fired/ Larry Coker fired at Miami (Merged)

Re: Coker Fired

Usually all it it takes is the "first firing" to open the flood gates for the rest. I wonder if any other schools will begin to announce terminations? (Not specifically implying Bama though they are included in the impication.)

Re: Coker Fired

See? Miami doesn't tolerate mediocrity - Coker's record at Miami was 59-15 (.797 record) yet they saw that his teams were getting worse, not better.

I shoudl hope that we do the same - look at what's happening, make no excuses, and do what needs to be done.

Re: Coker Fired

i guess donna shalaylalaya isn't as dumb as she looks
wish i could say the same for the wittster

Re: Coker Fired

At this point they can't, because we still have a coach.
The AD for Miami said that it takes longer to find a good consulting firm than a coach. He as much as admitted that they had done their research and worked out an agreement with this consulting firm well ahead of today's announcement...

Add to this that Frank Solich was 58-19 from 1998-2003 .759 winning percentage and he got the axe at Nebraska. For all of those on here who put a lot of stock in tradition and class, do these programs have any more tradition than Alabama and did they use class in firing these two coaches?

Re: Coker Fired

Looks like Miami's athletic department is working during the holidays. I just wonder if our's is doing the same. :conf2:

If the administration were going to hire a consulting firm, they should've done like Miami and hired them earlier in the year. I don't think we have that much time.

Re: Coker Fired

I heard Coker's press conference and was really impressed with his class. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere with a good program.

I missed the PC, but I was thoroughly impressed with the way Coker led his team last night. He had to know that he was hours away from being fired, but instead of sulking or mailing it in, he fired his kids up and was about as positive as a coach could be, both on the sidelines and in his interviews. I can't help but think that schools who might be interested in hiring him in the future noticed that.

I still can't believe they beat BC. That was a surprise.

Very gracious at his PC...High class guy in a bad situation...best of luck to him...

Re: Coker Fired

You can not compare the attendance records in Miami to Alabama for one they have more sports choices. Two they rarely havea large crowd unless it is a national known opponent so 23,000 is somewhat expected. Yes I know it was BC, but since Doug Flutie what have they done?
