I often remember a reporter asking Wimp Sanderson (a very poor attempt at a “gotcha” question) “So how many players are you graduating coach?”

Wimp responded “Every one of them that wants to.”

I think we sometimes forget that “the process” transcends football. It is also is key to success in classroom. Like the football program, every opportunity for academic success is in place for them. And I’m happy to see so many taking advantage of it, even to the extent of some completing advance degrees before they are done.

As it is often said, “Sports should about producing young people “of character”. Not young people who “are characters”.

This is as important to me as the championships we all covet.

Alabama helps their athletes graduate as well as anyone. Proud of all of the players for their hard work on and off the field.

Cool note about two of college football’s best players: Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and two-time Nagurski Trophy winner Will Anderson Jr. both graduated in three years with GPAs over 3.0. Young majored in psychology. Anderson in communications.
