This guy is 6' weighing in at 240 and runs a 4.5, 40..nuff said! My question is will we recruit him as a FB. He seems like a Leron Mclain clone. What are our chances of picking up this guy.

Eason's ultimate destination at many schools, including Bama, would be FB. He wants to play RB and that may factor in his decision b/c he could at places like Ole Miss or Mississippi State. The Barn is also a player for his sig. However, when it comes down to it, I think he'll stay in-state. Still a shot at him, especially if he officials here.

This would be a hugh pick up especially if Mclain leaves this year...does anyone see that happening? I think it would be a hugh mistake if Eason goes to State, but he would see immediate playing time. Meridian, MS has a big Miss State following and one of their off campus sites is located there. At Ole Miss he would compete with McSwain, I don't think he would want that but he would probably do well there. As far as Auburn is concerned, I don't see him going there, but I think they were one of the first schools to take interest in him. You're probably right though I bet he stays in state...but I've been fooled before...aka Jimmy Johns.

Unless he doesn't grow in the next four years, he's going to be a FB wherever he goes to college IMO. He is very fast and very athletic, and he wants to play RB, but who knows? Leron McClain was a hell of a tailback in high school, and now he's going to be making a lot of money one day as an NFL fullback, something I doubt he could have done had he been insistent on playing tailback.

Does he have the hands to be a Tim Castille type back that plays some TB and FB? Seems like Bama would have an in with him there, just show him film of Timmy C scoring all of those touchdowns........

While he would like to play RB, one thing that Bama can offer is the chance to start at FB as a sophomore... I don't see him playing a lot at Ole Miss for the next three years because of McSwain (freshmen if I'm not mistaken)... MSU is his best shot if he wants an opportunity to start as a TR. Regardless, if LM goes pro I can easily see him getting significant playing time at the Capstone next year (provided he physically is the real deal). For one, I wish we would turn up the heat on this guy.

Bamarich,

I am pretty sure the heat is turned up on the guy. He's just going to be a tough guy to pull out of MS State. Although I couldn't think of a more satisfying thing than to take another stud right out from under Sly Croom, particularly given his recent attitude. I think the thing that may hurt our chances with this kid is telling him that we want him to play FB. He seems pretty set on being a major ball-carrier at this point.

the staff would without a doubt love this guy b/c he fits the TC/LM mold. I just don't get a good vibe from him in his interviews. The Barn has been a big player for a while, too, but I just don't think he leaves the state of MS.

Have heard he "takes a few plays off" when he doesn't get touches. That's fixable, though. ;)

Cordera Eason

For those close to the situation, why is Cordero Eason (seemingly) not high on the priority list of recruits. Is it because of him (lack of interest) or is it due to something on our part (demanding to be a TB, weight concern, etc.). All of my info has been coming from this board as well as Rivals/TiderInsider. From their websites, there have been no stories that we have sent coaches to his home/school yet. With two senior FB's next year and no heir apparents, I am going to be concerned if we don't recruit at least one FB this year.

The staff has a plan for fullback, be sure of that. It could very well be someone on the roster right now. Also, Cole Harvey will start out at fullback for Alabama.

we have a few on our current roster who could move to FB and as Ping said, Cole Harvey..... we'd take Eason in a heartbeat, but I honestly don't see him leaving OM.

RE: Fullbacks

Seddrick Holloway is scheduled to make an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend, although I don't know if that is firm. I haven't heard a lot on him lately, but he is a fullback prospect from Tallahassee Lincoln - same school as LB prospect Craig Stevens. If he doesn't come this weekend, I could see him visiting later in the process. Possibly with Stevens on Jan 20.

What is the deal with this Hanrahan kid, RTO? Based on hearing the coaches talk, I can't imagine he is one of the '15' commits that we currently have. Will he ever show up here?

Holloway won't visit this weekend, and since it was changed, I bet it will be with the 20th with Stevens....

I've never heard the staff mention Hanrahan and I won't count him as a full scholly until I do....I think he'll show up in January as a walk-on or as a Bryant.

Shula had "15" in one interview, but Randy Ross said "17" in another.....that could mean lots of things.....but I don't want to type all the possibilities

hanrahan is grayshirting...he is at ua right now as a part time student. cole harvey will move to FB due to their being so many young players on the o. line right now and 4 or more coming in. he also couldnt get his weight up. the fb recruiting is scarying me a bit too. i still think we need one "true" or "natural" fb commitment, not just current players switching positions. roll tide roll

rolltide8755,

The problem in recruiting fullbacks is that very rarely is there such thing as a 'true' FB before they get to college. Almost every college team that utilizes a FB has moved that guy from another position. McClain and Castille were both halfbacks in high school, ball carriers who rarely if ever served as lead-blockers.

Seddrick Holloway says in a new article that Bama has a significant lead for his services. This could be the answer at FB for this recruiting class. Kind of ironic that if he chooses Bama he could be sharing that duty with a guy who used to block for him in high school (Harvey).

Harvey may have to cheer for his buddy from the sidelines, though he may make a heckuva FB himself. That will be an interesting position to watch the next couple of years.

I predict it will be a position we complain a lot about also. Not that these other guys won't be able to do the job, but we have been spoiled by LeRon McClain. That guy is as good as it gets as a fullback. I've thought since midway through his sophomore season he was the best fullback in the country. He is awesome.
