My office's role in COVID contracting is coming to an end (hopefully). We are turning our 600+ contracts back over to the State. Good riddance! My boss (lt. col.) is on his way back to the office from being deployed in South Florida. The deployment will continue until at least December, but there has been a change of command. My boss is a cool dude and generally laid back, but he gets very intense when he is on deployment. Being responsible for hundreds of troops and mission success, he can't slow down. Even with the long hours for months on end, he had trouble sleeping. So, he and some of his buds picked up skills as python hunters in the wee hours. LOL. They caught a couple of dozen, the longest being about 10 '.

My wife's favorite nursing unit is labor and delivery. She was in L&D for around eight years as a RN, and now as a CRNA she works in L&D at her primary hospital. However, nothing is ever perfect, of course. The worst part of the job is when a woman who is actively in labor just shows up at the hospital out of the blue. No one knows who this woman is; there are no records for her. Now the staff has to scramble and run every test to find out what is going on. Very time consuming for the staff and very expensive for the taxpayer.
The other night a 17-year-old showed up unannounced to deliver her second baby. In addition to the usual scramble, there was no time to do a COVID test on the patient ahead of time. And, of course, the test came back positive. Fortunately, when my wife administered the epidural she was in her hazmat suit, so she had little risk of exposure. However, several RNs who were with the patient from the beginning of the process didn't have time to fully gear up. Good times.
To add to this pathetic scenario, the 16-year-old baby daddy shows up without a mask. When told he couldn't enter the hospital wing without a mask, he became profane. And when he was told that he needed to get a COVID test because he was most assuredly positive, he became violent. He spat on some of the nurses (fortunately not my wife) and broke out the "check your white privilege" accusation. Moron people say moronic things. More good times.

Is anyone getting spam calls about COVID vaccines? I imagine there is all manner of scams out there. I don't answer calls from unknown callers. Usually, messages aren't left, but two were. Apparently, for a modest fee (and all manner of personally identifiable information), I can be among the first to get the cure. So, I've got that going for me.
