A number of people were discussing this today in our jury room. A number of them have friends, family and co-workers who now have no means of income. Some had just started these jobs in the last few months. None of the 17 of us in the room were happy about this knowing there are now struggling families who have lost their means of income. Some were even saying that Trump was suppose to fix the economy not send families to the bread line. Seems some voters are starting to regret their vote.

I’m sure the MAGAs around here will tell us why hurting working Americans while the DC billionaires pad their pockets is perfectly okay.

I doubt anyone is happy about this (well, there are some callous folks who literally don't care about their fellow man, but otherwise...) but there's no way you see a RIF without this. The federal government is the single largest employer in the US - that alone should tell you this had to happen if we're ever going to reduce the deficit spending.

It sucks, but as I've said here off and on for years: austerity always sucks, but it sucks a lot less when you have the choice to make those cuts rather than having them forced upon you.

Trump firings cause chaos at agency responsible for America's nuclear weapons

Scenes of confusion and chaos unfolded over the last two days at the civilian agency that oversees the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile, as the Trump administration mass firings were carried out before being "paused" on Friday.

This account of firings at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is based on interviews with several current and former NNSA employees who asked to remain anonymous, fearing retribution from the Trump administration.

Officials were given hours to fire hundreds of employees, and workers were shut out of email as termination notices arrived. The dismissals part of a broader group of dismissals at the Department of Energy, where reportedly more than a thousand federal workers were terminated. It was all a result of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative to slash the federal workforce and what Musk and President Trump characterize as excessive government spending.

Trump officials fired nuclear staff not realizing they oversee the country’s weapons stockpile, sources say

Trump administration officials fired more than 300 staffers Thursday night at the National Nuclear Security Administration — the agency tasked with managing the nation’s nuclear stockpile — as part of broader Energy Department layoffs, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.

Sources told CNN the officials did not seem to know this agency oversees America’s nuclear weapons.

What does that matter? As long as we cut spending, the consequences aren't important.

It’s terrible to see up close, but from where I sit it’s ok. As long as this isn’t the only cost cutting measure from DOGE. The federal budget and waste is out of control, And needs to be examined closely. As a side note, My wife’s family lives in Maryland in metro DC and freaking out. They all have jobs working for the federal government, most rarely go into an office, as working from home became easier. It was funny listening to my wife’s sister complain that her new home is more than 2 1/2 hours out of DC, and commuting now would be next to impossible. Nevermind she is a department head at Homeland.

Musk’s DOGE seeks access to personal taxpayer data, raising alarm at IRS
"Under pressure from the White House, the IRS is considering a memorandum of understanding that would give DOGE officials broad access to tax-agency systems, property and datasets. Among them is the Integrated Data Retrieval System, or IDRS, which enables tax agency employees to access IRS accounts — including personal identification numbers — and bank information. It also lets them enter and adjust transaction data and automatically generate notices, collection documents and other records."

I guess this belongs here.
Mike Benz is a former DoS employee.
He spoke to Rogan about USAID's dealings, starting with NSC 10/2 (dawn of the Cold War and "Political Warfare"). Modified after 9/11 to remove the firewall separating overseas political warfare and the domestic American audiences (a big No-No before 9/11).
I have used the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) in my teaching. I had no idea their connections, but I cannot say I'm surprised.

Benz has been preaching about this corruption for a long time now. He's not short-sighted enough to believe or suggest that a USAID-like covert entity isn't necessary, but has been frustrated for some time how it's been hijacked.
