D.O.G.E (Department of Government Efficiency)

The average person doesn't care a bit that we are trillions in debt. When they realize that all of this budget cutting doesn't lower prices or taxes the shine will come right off the Trump rose (not to mention the increases in prices from the Trump tariffs).

In the not-too-distant future, starving and/or killing poor people overseas in order to "own the libs" and raise poll numbers won't be looked upon kindly by history, the world, or the more compassionate members of the American public. Soft power success can be difficult to quantify, but there's little doubt regarding its effectiveness. Hard power alone, especially when used by bullies like Trump, might be impressive to some in the short-term, but its solo long-term effectiveness is very much in doubt.
You are incredibly wrong about this. People care that their money is being wasted. Thats the point you’re missing. They are mad that it’s their money. They care that we are in debt to the level we are. They just can’t do anything about it and everyone elected has done nothing about. Now someone is at least doing something.

Who exactly is killing poor people? Also if his tax cuts to tips, overtime, and SS checks go through it will be a direct tax cut for many middle class and lower income people. They may not go through so we will see.

I just can’t for the life of me understand people resisting cuts to obviously wasteful agencies. Many of them need to be pulled out by the roots and start over. We’ve been reading about these stupid expenditures for years and we all just had to eat it because no one would do anything. People may turn on trump but DOGE won’t be the reason.

Yes people care that their money is being wasted.
No they are not concerned about the deficit/debt. That's generally how many live their personal lives. Just wait until year end when the trump tax cuts (TCJA of 2017) expire. There will be little support to let them expire regardless of how much trump cuts spending in the mean time. Way too many people want things but dont want to wait until they (the gov.) can affort to pay for those things. We will be lied to again with some sort of supply side/trickle down bs but as before, its still a lie. Those lies buy votes!

Nope they care. They may not want their favorite project or program cut, but when you show them billions in waste fraud and abuse they will be all for cutting that nonsense out as way to lower deficits, even if it’s only by a small amount. They also get really mad about the waste because……..IT’S THEIR MONEY!! The copeium is strong with this thread.

What if maybe...

Politicians weren't worth hundreds of billion's of dollars and they actually struggled to pay their mortgage, phone bill, car note, gas, and grocery bill, maybe just maybe they would be more inclined to make decisions that were good for the common American. You know, the one's that they are representing...

That's where the disconnect is. Democrats feel if you are in favor of these tax cuts and audits, you couldn't possibly have those feeling from a place of good and betterment of our country. You must hate poor people, are racist, and want to see the world burn to the ground. It would be unimaginable to think someone in America, especially a "TRUMP VOTER", wants to see long term economic stability, less government corruption, and lower taxes for the middle class. IT JUST COULDN'T BE!!!!

The waste is something that matters to people, but just like in the election, their pocketbooks are all that matters. What tangible effect will the cuts have on the everyday lives of Americans?

To pretend that those who oppse some of these cuts are opposed to all of them is unfair. I am mystified as to why this “all or nothing” mentality persists.

Yes, it’s their money. Will they be getting any of it back? That’s what will matter. Some seem unable to see the forest for the trees.

What many of us realize is this isn't an instant gratification moment. We didn't get here overnight and we aren't going to reap MAJOR incentives and rewards overnight either. We simply like that we are trying to do something about the situation we are in. We are here for the long game. If I have to pay a little extra now, to save A LOT extra later, then so be it.

This post will certainly keep the crows away from this thread.

The ENTIRE democrat party is opposed to EVERY SINGLE ONE of these cuts. I've been watching their reactions every day on TV. If anything comes out of Trump's mouth it only takes about three seconds before we see Schumer, Waters, Warren, et al, opposing it simply because Trump said it.

Case in point the "no tax on tips". We live in a bizzaro world where a Republican would be the one who proposes this because it sounds like the Democrat party that I've known my entire adult life (at least before Obama took over). Yet there are crickets from the Dems about this idea. They absolutely hate that Trump has stolen so much of their thunder amongst the blue collar population.

You are the exception. This will not be how everyday Americans feel, especially since the saving A LOT later is just talk. There’s no guarantee that these cuts will result in the middle class seeing a reduction in prices or an increase in salary. That’s what matters to voters.

If a serial killer murders a member of my family, should I just lose all interest in seeing him or her brought to justice because it won't bring my family member back? Of course not. I feel like many crimes could conceivably be exposed in all this and I want to see the people responsible pay (and I don't give a damn what party they represent.)

If Trump/Musk came out and said, “We’re not stopping aid that saves people’s lives, only the truly wasteful and ineffective spending,” then many Democrats would b be willing to go along with it.

Harris supported “no tax on tips” last year. I’ve not seen a groundswell of opposition to the proposal from Democrats.

If there has been malfeasance going on (and I’m sure there has), I’m all in favor of exposing and punishing those responsible, no matter the party.

You got to admit, at this point Trump could say the sky was blue and CNN and the liberal media would have a hissy fit arguing it was a shade of blue but not actually blue...

No they won't get it back, and that's the problem. They see their money they worked for taken from them by threat of force, and make no mistake that's what happens. You will be charged with a crime and in severe cases sent to jail if you don't mail the check. The average American then sees THEIR MONEY being used in stupid ways and they get mad about it. We have moved to a point that a majority of the country doesn't about the forest or the trees they are ready to burn the whole thing down. You can try to rationalize and use phrases like, "the forest for the trees" but it doesn't change the mood of the country, and on this one your point of view is in the minority by quite a bit.

I'll explain why the all of nothing mentality exists. The majority of the country doesn't trust the government. They see the waste, and it is a lot of waste. I would guess when you get to SS Medicare Medicaid and DoD along with the smaller agencies you will probably find 25% waste fraud abuse and graft. The average person sees all of this and says shut it all down because we don't trust the system or the people running it. The only thing to do is clean house and start over with these agencies. That's why it's all of nothing.
