Yep. Nixon got one. When did preemptive pardons become a thing, anyway? Has that ever been done before?
Thanks, it’s easy to forget that Nixon was never actually impeached. He obviously would have been, though. His acceptance of said pardon was obviously an informal acknowledgment of wrongdoing.Yep. Nixon got one.

Is a preemptive pardon legal? Biden considers measure for White House staff
Preemptive pardons are legal and have been used in the past by Abraham Lincoln, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.www.newsweek.com
It says our country was stupid enough to elect a convicted criminal and a known insurrectionist with no moral compass! What does this say about our country when people should be pardoned for just doing their jobs?
I'm sure any list of Trump's would require quotation marks around the word innocent. Fortunately, that's not the case for those pardoned this morning. This is an interesting expenditure of political capital to say the least. A lot of commentators are expecting this to be challenged, but I’m not so sure. For all we know, Trump has already started a list of “innocent” people he knows he will have to pardon four years from today.
There's no political capital required--the pardon authority is wholly vested in the president. And even if it did, it's not like Biden needs to save any capital at this point. This is an interesting expenditure of political capital to say the least. Oh? And how do we know that? No investigation has taken place, so at best this is hopeful assumption. These people have lost all 5th Amendment protections because of this and they can still be called before the grand jury or congressional committee.I'm sure any list of Trump's would require quotation marks around the word innocent. The only thing I can think of is that this hasn’t ever been brought before SCOTUS (that I know of.)There's no political capital required--the pardon authority is wholly vested in the president. And even if it did, it's not like Biden needs to save any capital at this point.
And what would be the basis for a challenge?
So he’s protecting his family from the law fare we’ve been assured by the establishment isn’t actually a thing in these United States? Interesting.Mr. Biden emphasized that he did not believe his family did anything wrong, but he feared political attacks by Donald J. Trump.
Should evidence be presented that shows otherwise, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. I look forward to their testimony.Oh? And how do we know that? It speaks volumes about the level of fear Trump and his supporters have brought about regarding political prosecution. Republicans have made no secret about their desire to put in jail (or worse) those who dared to cross Trump. So he’s protecting his family from the law fare we’ve been assured by the establishment isn’t actually a thing in these United States? I’m against mass pardons, period. Every J-sixer should have his or her case reviewed individually. Whether in the street or the capitol, I do not like rioting and it should be punished within equal application of the law.Should evidence be presented that shows otherwise, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. I look forward to their testimony.
How do you feel about possible pardons for those convicted of crimes committed on January 6?
Research Fauci. When the US made a law banning certain research into viruses, etc, he bypassed those laws to funnel millions into the Wuhan lab. Then when covid got out, there are plenty of emails, etc showing him leading a cover up, So he is partially responsible for tens of thousands of deaths. Interesting that you consider that innocent, and not worthy of at least an investigation.Innocent people were pardoned this morning and I expect guilty people to be pardoned this afternoon.
Agreed, but the idea that Dems are any better is absurd. Law fare is real; we’ve been seeing it for years. Either we acknowledge the danger this poses from both sides or we don’t and deal with the consequences. It speaks volumes about the level of fear Trump and his supporters have brought about regarding political prosecution. Republicans have made no secret about their desire to put in jail (or worse) those who dared to cross Trump.
That's very interesting. I'd appreciate it if you'd provide the links of the research and facts to which you refer.Research Fauci.
