anyway

One of the last posts on XII was about the "aid going to Ukraine" and I was about to point out most of that money doesn't actually go outside of the US. One study showed as much as 90% stays right here. Spent on equipment that is going to Ukraine. In detailing that I found this opinion piece that spells it out far better than I could

Former President Donald Trump announced a slate of endorsements to lead the Republican National Committee Monday night in a move that will shake up current leadership of the GOP.

Trump said he is backing Michael Whatley, chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, to lead the RNC as its chairman and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump to serve as co-chair. This would be Lara Trump's first leadership position within the party.

A Kentucky state representative has sparked outrage and ridicule after trying to rewrite the past during Black History Month by saying that her father—a white man born in the 1930s—was a slave.

Tom Emmer claims on Fox Business that defense spending isn't "running this country into the iceberg" -- it's Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that Congress has to address.
The answer is all of the above. Defense spending is doing its part and so are the other three. It’s just math. When you combine these with the interest payments on the debt which will pass defense spending this year if I remember correctly along with other random wasteful spending and you have a cliff we are going to go over that is taller than Mt. Everest. We need a combination of increased revenue, spending cuts, and long term reforms to programs. We can’t change SS and the like for people already on it or near it, but the level of spending isn’t sustainable long term. We may be fine for a while longer but it will happen eventually.

Let's give more money to billionaires. That'll fix everything!

He's presenting the GOP solution to the problem.
Fair enough, but I don't see the Dems doing anything to solve the problem. You could tax the entire wealth of the top 5% of the population and not dent the problem. Are you willing to admit that neither party is willing to address the actual issues in any way that would actually solve them? Yelling pay their fair share won't fix anything anymore than tax cuts for those same people.

By your logic cutting spending will makes no difference.

Taxing the rich will at least generate more revenue.

That said, I've been saying for years that the problem is that the federal government has spending policies and they have taxing policies, but they have no unified FISCAL policies.

Furthermore, the consolidation of defense contractors has, IMO, stifled competition and innovation. For instance, Lockheed Martin keeps getting contracts despite thoroughly screwing the pooch on the littoral combat system.

The system is quite broken.

Tommy Tuberville:
Nowhere I'd rather be than standing with @realDonaldTrump on a day that corrupt Democrats tried to use the justice system to destroy the next President of the United States.
The American people see this political witch hunt for what it is and will send a message in November. There will be a reckoning. #MAGA
