that song came out the same year as the 75th anniversary of the boy scouts and that summer was one of many i worked as camp staff at camp horne. as part of the diamond anniversary celebrations we were tortured with that song (among other things) non-stop and it makes me cringe every time i hear it (which thankfully isn't that often)

Yeah, negative associations are a different thing and I can totally understand. I've never particularly liked country music, but I especially hate "Friends In Low Places" because it was nearly impossible to escape that song for a few months there. It seemed like every friend I had was playing it on repeat. I decided to get new friends, but the situation didn't change.

i have a special place for garth brooks hatred. waited tables in college at a place that went through a phase where they wanted to jump on that early 90s country fad and it was all garth all the time.

Mrs. 1967 is a Jax State grad and we have season tickets. They play that Lee Greenwood crap before the fourth quarter as a “salute to the troops” and ask everyone to stand.

i doubt anything will come of it, because our justice system seems to be rigged in favor of vile pieces of crap like desantis, but i can hope

I hope they can all be held personally accountable for these crimes, both in civil and criminal courts. Kidnapping, human trafficking, violation of civil rights, etc;... whatever they can be charged with they should be charged.
