Deer in the headlights

Anybody know why they didn't hire Jimbo Fisher. I mean the guy has a good reputation as an Offensive coordinator. He was already familiar with the players and knew what it took to coach in the SEC. Did anybody notice the guy's face when the crowd at Baton Rouge got loud? He appeared to be shocked and had to switch to the "big boy" headset. Just imagine what happens when he has to go on the road. Granted, UM came from the MAC/WAC/Mountain West whatever, and Saban came from the Big 10 so it's not like a SEC pedigree is necessary, but some rumors floated around that Fisher was offered one of the Mississippi jobs when they were available. Anyway, just curious.

1. MSU wanted Jimbo Fisher after they "retired" Sherrill, but with probation looming, Fisher said, "No thanks."

2. I think Jimbo went down to Miami to be with Saban. I need to check into it more.

Ummm...there's another coach I know of that blew a 21 point lead a couple of years ago...

I think Miles is an idiot too, but sometimes it happens. :)

miles is in trouble...the SEC may be over his head...or at least it may take him a few years to adjust (if he gets a few)...without a doubt he lost it Monday night...he didn't know where he was in the second half of that game...

Some of you seem to forget that our beloved Tide blew a similar lead a couple of years ago to the Hogs and everybody was accusing our coach of having that "deer in the headlights" look. I wouldn't be so quick to criticize the guy. He's in the first years in a very tough SEC.

You can't compare the two. Coach Shula had a depleted and injury riddled team, while Miles had a full roster of blue chippers.

no Sir, Jimbo is still the man down here in Bayou Country!

Les Miles was told if Jimbo wanted to stay he had to keep him. He wanted to and the rest is history.

Well, we can joke about it all we want to, but I think Miles is a good coach and he'll do well at LSU. His team has faced a lot of distractions and this is only their 2nd game. He has a lot of talent and by the end of the season they will be in the running for the SECW.

HA......I love it.........But hate Tenn. too..

I think...

a doe would have been more appropriate than a buck. "A doe in the headlights..." :D And, BTW, there's no prohibition against the use of of the term "deer in the headlights" - unless it's applied to our coach or players...

I also wondered why he would call a timeout after a turnover. Clocks stops, late in the game and you burn one? Anybody know how long he coached at OSU, and was he a head coach before OSU? The 21 point comeback against us was Coach Shulas first year as a HC.

LSU's loss to UT was basically about conditioning so... i know that's part of the coach's responsibility, but it ain't like he coached a horrible game or anything. His lines on both sides of the ball just folded in exhaustion.

if he gets those guys in shape and does the same exact thing, he has a bunch of wins on his hands.
